Hello everyone, hope your having a great week. I have a intermittent puzzle I can't crack!
A short little backstory. I replaced my turbo/DPF because of a broken turbo shaft and oil coming out the exhaust. It all went well but it wasn't 2 weeks later a light came on and put the car into limp mode. The fault codes that came back were
• P1440 EGR Valve (N18) Open Circuit
• P0403 EGR Valve (N18) Malfunction intermittent
I need to get a couple things understood. It's possible I had this issue before the turbo went out but I was just assuming it was something I messed up when replacing Turbo/DPF.
The thing I can't find any FOR SURE evidence on is what EGR valve is the N18 Valve! There is 2 EGR systems and I believe the N18 is the on bolted on the intake and NOT the one on the EGR cooler.
1. Am I correct on this?
Thus far I have checked all wiring from the EGR valve in the intake 5 pin connector to the ECM. All circuits had great continuity and passed a load test. I replaced the EGR valve on the intake because when I ran a actuator test in VCDS it sounded horrible and when using a borescope it appeared that the valve was jittery and not opening or closing smoothly. The new valve did the same thing. After clearing codes and driving the car for a couple weeks I thought the issue was fixed but all symptoms came back.
After fiddling with it some more and clearing codes a third time. I got the same codes plus P2463. DPF Excessive soot accumulation. I monitored soot load and actual was 0.0 and calculated was 49.0.
If anyone has some trouble shooting advice or any kind of help I would appreciate it. I'm trying my best to figure this one out. Thank you much!!
I will upload the fault code freeze frame and data.
