If I'm swapping ecu and cluster on MK5 GTI (I know the numbers must match on ecu) if one is coded for manual trans and the other is an automatic, can I change the manual programming to automic using ross-tech?

Not all ECUs will accept a coding change to switch between manual and auto, it's often a different software version.

You'll need to post an Auto-Scan with your current ECU and cluster, and give details of the ECU and cluster you hope to swap to.

Depends on how is the ECU SW configured.

If the coding for Manual/Automatic is accepted, there is a good Chance ( No guarantee ) that it will Work. If Not accepted there is another SW Version for Automatic.

Cluster doesn't matter, engine ECU must be the correct transmission type.

Plus you need to be able to match the immobiliser, somehow.
