Does anyone know if this can be done without visiting a specialist tuner?
  • When the engine uses 6-cylinder mode it is either downhill or on flat. Anything much steeper than a flat road and it reverts back to using all 12 cylinders. I'd like to be able to increase the allowable output when using 6-cylinder mode.
  • And the gearbox - ideally I'd love to be able to press the accelerator (not into to the kickdown switch) without it changing down - ie. for it to use all the torque of the engine in whatever gear is currently selected without kickdown.
Thanks in advance.

I do not think you will be able to change that via diagnostics.

Does your shifter not have a tiptronic gate? ;)

No there's no gate on the shifter, like the modern ones do. Just buttons.

So no tiptronic function?

It became a habit with me once I got up to about 60 mph on the highway in top gear to engage tiptronic, which locked the transmission into top gear unless the vehicle speed dropped quite low.
