This will probably not actually take that long, I would give it twenty minutes and then check what it says. However this does need to write a good chunk of data so it will take a bit of time.

Do you use VCDS-Mobile? If the answer is, No, then you can check the option to skip that update being installed now (which is just data for VCDS-Mobile). The interface firmware itself is looks good to go already.

Yes I clicked skip Mobile and the DS updates did not start. Wasnt sure if it was necessary to use for normal VCDS so i went through the process anyway but thanks for the clarification :)

Any reason why its taking so long though? Still 4 hours to go !

How long, before this version, was the interface not updated?

You made me interested in testing, with this data it takes less than 2 minutes.

At the same time, I don't have particularly fast internet.

It looks like its working its way progressively through a bunch of DS updates.

48.. 50.. 55.. 57.. 60..

I kind wonder whether you have a lazy SD card in there? Or a dog-slow USB subsystem in your PC?

It's updated regularly.
Looking at the update history on @golfather's HN2, it shipped in 2023 with DS60 in it. The question is, why was it back to 46? That's something of a default reversion. I think there's a way to force it to revert to that and go through all the updates, but I don't remember what it is. I don't use Mobile much...

SD Card? Is that within the interface? Its never been opened but I can replace it if that helps.
USB system ok normally, use this laptop with all sorts of USB drives no issues. Its connected via USB C

Current progress. It was not wrong about the time remaining !

Yes.

It needs to be initialized in a particular way. But once this thing is finished, if you can open up the interface, put it in a card reader, and run CHKDSK on it if you want.

Here we go again - another 2 hour update

7kv0MKR.jpeg

ANd the DS updates have again regressed back to the original version before the update a few months ago

Original SD card was checked and CHKDSK was all ok
SD card replaced - same issue
Different PC tried - same issue

Noticed the downloaded rods unpack in a temp diretory on the SD card ok.
The delay is when it tries to copy each of these files to the Labels directory on the SD card

Any other suggestions please?

Strange. You don't have a huge number of .ROD files. I suppose I'd let it do it's thing overnight, but we'll need @Shaun to chime in here.

What type of antivirus software do you have? We have seen a few cases of antivirus software that tries to scan the card when it mounts causing serious delays to the update process.

Thanks for the pointer, did some further testing

Standard windows defender already disabled
Added exlucsion to D:\
Disabled Realtime protection

VCDS Update still slow

CHecked windows explorer and all very slow to respond on the D:\ drive so yes something is very slow on the card.

Checked diskmon.exe and no read/writes happenening on Disk 1 (SD Drive) so nothing should be hogging up the VCDS update process - it does not appear to be from the PC end.

Stuck for ideas again :(
