So this 2017 Tiguan 2.0 TDI seems to start and run fine every day.
But, at around 75 degrees on the temperature clock the MIL appears and the attached VCDS scan indicates P0016, a malfunction with the G28 Crank Speed Sensor correlation to the G40 Cam Speed Sensor.
Naturally this DTC cannot be cleared until the engine temperature falls below 75 degrees at which point I can clear the code. Once above 75 degrees the MIL will appear again.
Most of the obvious causes of P0016, e.g. timing belt alignment, faulty sensors, worn drives etc. are bound to be constantly present regardless of temperature so I am wondering about the possibility of a problem with a VVT solenoid or valve which is oil driven. My thinking being that the operating valve is possibly less effective when the oil is warmer.
My question is: Does this particular engine have VVT? And, if not, does anyone have any experience of clearing this P0016 code under similar circumstances?
