01276 - ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64)
008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
01276 - ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent

2006 MK5 R32:
Faults would clear, pump would NOT run during output tests, but would not trigger the fault code again, until some time driving... Either, or both codes would return someitmes.

Fuses test fine... from above with a multimeter... but upon fuse removal...

Nah, it looks like it's "burnt" off the bottom, that side has been warm enough to slightly melt the plastic! I don't know if it happened during a single pump activation, or if it's been happening over time etc... that ABS pump doesn't run super often though!

(I wish I'd taken a better photo!)

My guess is that the fingers that make contact with the tang on the lead are spread. Arcing is occurring in the connection, heating the connection. The result was enough local heating to melt away/weld pieces of the tang. That fuse socket is likely no good.

WOW @Bruce !!

That is a good guess !! from a man that claims he does not work on cars :o :o :o :o :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Most Mastertechs - Any Marque quite likely may find that but explain the science behind the failure - Cats Chance !!

Im no expert but isn't a different part supposed to melt? By design?

The fuse is designed to melt if and when the current passing through it exceeds its Amp Rating.

Green is a 30 amp fuse

In this case 30 amps was not exceeded. A loose connection will cause what @Bruce has so eloquently and accurately described,

In House and Commercial Electrics - That failure would pop the RCD. Different Science.

That is one reason that checking fuses is Futile and Stupid.

And I bang on about the Multimeter having no place in the modern workshop !!

We measure Voltage at the Component - Not the fuse, normally not even halfway from Source to Component.

This a failure that we now see - Not so much in the past !!

WHY !!

Cheap shit fuses !! The "legs" are just a tad slimmer on the fuse. Leg material is "duller"
