Hello

I located a code to enable Adaptive Brake Lights in the following module:
[46 - Comfort System] -> [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8.
• Bit 0 (Emergency Brake Flashing via Turn Signals) was already active.
• Bit 1 (Emergency Brake Flashing via Brake Lights) was not active, so I enabled it.
The code was successfully accepted, but I am unsure if it has had any noticeable effect. Do these features only activate when the vehicle is in motion, rather than when parked?
At the time, my car was running with the parking brake engaged, but I expected to see the brake lights flash, as shown in the YouTube videos.
Has anyone else had experience with this feature and can share their observations?

It would be good to see the YT video you mentioned, and possibly an autoscan of the car but on my own Seat Altea (MK5 Golf based) car, "emergency brake flashing" is only when I brake very heavily like an emergency stop. In that case the hazard lights start flashing and turn off again when I pull away. Jumping on the brake pedal while stationary on my car doesn't make them flash

Best regards
Derek

As @Derek says emergency brake lights only activate during emergency braking.

Thanks for your reply. I Will generate the autoscan and post - wip

Video link here:

I guessed it would have to be while in motion- will try to have a friend follow me to confirm

Yes, that's the same as my Altea, under emergency braking, the brake lights flash fast, then the brake lights turn solid as the car comes to a stop and then the hazards come on. All go off again as I pull away

On narrow country roads the brake light show on the hedges if the road is dark so it's easy to see them come on, and I remember noticing the flashing some time back

Best regards
Derek

As most have said this only works onder pretty demanding braking action. IMO it’s a great function to activate, however if you can see it in action, you aren’t looking in a helpful direction at that moment.

Also, the amount of braking required to trigger this is pretty far towards ‘oh shit’ levels, and you’d better keep the car moving after doing that because your brake discs/rotors would very much like some airflow after such an event to cool down evenly.

I totally agree
Tough one to actually see in action LOL

I try to keep my eyes on the road in front of me too

Hopefully it never comes on …

Thanks for all the feedback you guys are the best!

It doesn't take very severe braking to make mine flash, certainly nothing like the effort the videos were showing.

Eyes front, but still aware of what's going on behind hopefully :)

Best regards
