I believe the ECM is in the plenum chamber and as such, I'd expect the ground point to be found in there close to the ECM itself.

Dude, we are not 24 hour coffee shop.... </snark>

Quick and lazy test, see what the ECM reports terminal 30 voltage as and see if other control modules report the same value. Example:
  • 01-08-004.2
  • 05-08-007.1
  • 19-08-200.2
  • 61-08-001.2
Most control modules will show battery or terminal 30 voltage and they should all read pretty much the same. If the ECM is the low man of the group, verify your powers and ground for the ECM. Unplug the ECM and verify the contacts are clean and dry... and since you have the ECM unplugged, I'd suggest to go ahead and spray it down with contact cleaner then plug/unplug a few times. This can help resolve "fretting", unlikely that is the problem, but if it is, that is the simple fix.

If the ECM is in fact bad, that opens up a new can of worms for you.... but I see Jetta97 has entered the battle, I trust him.
Is it possible that my MAF error is leading to my internal control module error?

Not likely.... I've never seen a MAF cause anything like that to happen. It has been my experience that if the grounds/powers are good, then it is a bad module.

I also think it's a bad module. I contacted a company called SIA Electronics and one person said with the error code 005635 - Internal Control Module P1603 - 004 - Failed Self-Test - Intermittent they wouldn't be able to communicate with the module. I don't know if this is true. They also said they can only work on the hardware. Is that what mine needs repaired or is it software? I just need the module repaired but need some guidance on that direction.

I have 5 sources of power at the larger connector and zero sources of power at the smaller connector. Is that typical?
