Dear all, I have been trying to program my keys to a replacement comfort control module in the golf .
It's used as new is no longer available .
I have managed to program one, by having ign on, key in lock, turn to lock and hold then press both buttons..... but it won't learn the 2nd key.
trying the VCDS way, it won't recognise either keys following what I think is the correct procedure.
Eg, go to 46 comfort module, go to 00, read, save... go to 01... I tried many times to move it from stored value of 1 to 2 and I have 2 keys to program, but it refuses.
I assume this is why it won't manually learn the 2nd key.
Can anyone give any clue why it's not playing?
The only thing I can think of is the bcm will only ever accept 4 keys....and say 3 of have been programmed to the previous vehicle it was fitted to.
Any ideas?
Peter

Need to wipe all old keys first. Follow procedure from the vcds wiki.

No, it should accept up to four brand new fobs at an time.

Is it always the same fob that fails, no matter order you try them in? Or can you match either one of the if you just match one?

Channel 00 should do that.

Yes i did follow the wipe process several times, but it will only allow one key to pair up, both keys work as the worked with original comfort module.
I did clear previous keys as per the online video using channel 00
but new comfort module seemingly will only accept 1 key.
I didn't try to wipe then pair the other one, I will try it perhaps this week.
I couldn't get it to recognise either key using VCDS, only by putting key in drivers door, lock and hold and press both buttons together for 2 seconds.
I have paired keys to an Audi A4 before using VCDS and it was fine.
That vehicle was 2006, our golf is 2002.

For some reason on channel 01, when you try to change comfort module from showing 1, despite in 00 going through the procedure to clear previous remotes, ( I would have expected it to show "0" after clearing in 00?
It shows "1" qnd trying to change that to "2" to program 2 keys doesn't work. The new comfort module looks identical to and has same Part number to my original part... and both keys worked with that one.

Both fobs worked previously with cars original comfort module .
I'm only changing it as the car has developed the turning an indicator on and leaving it on as you lock it...and I'm told this is a common comfort module fault

Part numbers alone are not a complete specification for these comfort modules. There is also an 'Index" or "color code" for them.

@Pedrokat36 Please post a scan from the current module, and if possible, from the old one.

Yes exactly the same part no. Everything is working, locks, windows etc,
It just the key pairing with vcds, the stored remote no. Won't change from 1 despite clearing in 00, and it won't learn the 2 previously working remotes.

Perhaps try to assign a different position to the fobs and see if they take?

That CCM doesn't let you specify a "position" to put a fob in. If you try adapting multiple fobs in one sesssion, the first one becomes fob 1, the second fob 2 and so on.

I will look into doing this, I'm a new user to vcds, do I select 47 for the comfort module and then press a scan button?
The dash is all back together with new module in place, so to put the old one back will be a Saturday job as the car is in use through the week.
I would really like to know who it will only match one key currently, but ultimately its a 23 Yr old 177k miles car that is I suppose in its twilight years.
VW would have me throw it away, hence no longer providing the spare..
And if VCDS doesn't work on this unit...(the audi was child's play to program by comparison) then I kind of think I may have wasted my money on the software.
But anyway, will get back to you.

Central Convenience is 46, not 47. ;)

Ideally, I'd like to see two Auto-Scans from this car, one with your "new" CCM and one with your old one installed.

I'm confident this is not a problem with VCDS.

One thing that still not clear in my mind. You said you're able to manually match one fob. Can you match either of them that way?
