Hi
My VW Amarok V6 has a button from factory in wich if I press it I can partly turn off the traction control or what it's called.
But even if I long press it, press it in any special configuration as I've previous have done successfully on other VW and Audis I've owned I never can turn it completely off.
Since I live in Norway and we got real winter here, and driving on real rough winter roads sometimes it's a real handy option if you can turn this off completely so that you can take advantage of the scandinavian flick to get around the final turns to get to your grandmother living in the mountains(yeah, I'm painting pictures in your head now?). :)
In fact it really is a handy alternative to get to turn it off completely, but this car wont let me..

I've been in touch with the lovely support people at Ross-Tech, but they couldnt give me a 100% certain answer to how to do this, but they recommended that I made a post in here, so here I go.

Can anyone of you help me with this? Is there a way to code my ABS module in a way that the factory button can turn the traction and stability control completely off? I know that I under basic settings can turn it off completely, but as soon as I turn the ignition off it resets.

The support people wrote that "
I do not have an official recommendation but I suspect the coding scheme
is closer to the 7E0 Caddy chart in which case Byte 15, Bit 1 may apply", so maybe we can start there?

PS: When I enter coding and long code helper on my ABS module none of the bytes got any text on it. No explanations what so ever, so I'm doing this blindfolded. But if any of you got the same module in another car, maybe you can check if you got text in your long coding helper?

And please bare with me, english is not my native language, so I might not be the easiest bloke to understand. But hopefully it's understandable.. :)

Did you tried to disable it Like the Caddy 7e0 way ?
What way is that?
I've tried the normal just press once and hold for a couple seconds, I've tried one short press followed by one longer press(tried everything from 3 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec all the way to 30 sec), tried holding it in when turning the ignition on, and a few other more or less random ways..

Un plug the ABS
Yeah I know that's a possibility, but that's not that convenient. When you need to turn these "helping aids" OFF you normally dont have that much time to stop and pull the fuse.
Ofc I could make a switch breaking the ABS circuit that way, but if there is a way to make the original switch do the magic with some coding I'd prefer that instead of making some other external setup.

I was thinking the same but after looking at the 7E0 Caddy tab here once more it should be Byte 15, Bit 6. I think I had a brain fart when I replied via email earlier today!

@sickpuppy , this is experimental as best but I would try changing that to:

207368B64995B69A04A316A792536DC5380000

In regards to VCDS, you can use Expert Mode in Long Coding Helper (Language > Expert user) to see the coding bytes and bits without plain text descriptions -or- open LCode.exe without VCDS to view the bits. Here's a temp screen shot to the new/modified coding suggestion above:

Right, that's not ideal . Also, if the ABS was offline the engine and transmission may be in a limp mode of some sort. Not ideal for winter at all. Better to have the ABS/EPS interventions simply switch off with the in-vehicle factory stuff.

I'll try that code a bit later today.
You thinking this will make the original button to turn it off completely with the one short press, or will this require a specific routine? Maybe my guess as good as any? :)
Well, thank you so much this far, I'll for sure update along the way. :)

I've tried this now and unfortunately it didnt do nothing other than disabling the button, no combination pressed did change anything. So I changed it back to the original code and now it's back to how it was.

That picture you posted hosted at trillian doesnt resemble any of the bytes in my ABS module. None of the bytes here has the list of bits like the picture you posted.

I did tho turn off the ESP and ASR in the basic settings, that did ofc the job, but then again I need to have the laptop connected and it doesnt respond to the original button in any way. And again, as soon as the ignition is off it resets and I need to reconnect the laptop.

You should have something similar using Expert mode when using VCDS on the car but I created that screen shot by opening LCode.exe on this desktop (without VCDS running) and pasting your coding string into it. The default location is: C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\LCode.exe

I do not have any other suggestions at this time but I'll keep a lookout to see if I can find any 2H6 series MK100 information.

Well, ten points to the user @2kaa52
I dont know how, but he sent me the solution on a personal message today, I tried it out and it worked!
So I grabbed the screen while doing the coding and put it up on youtube.
The solution was in byte 15, I changed bit 6 to state 1 and bit 7 to state 0. That did the trick! :)
Again, thank you very much to both the support and the forum, this is why I love the internet forums!

Dont ask how, have Fun with it 😁

Use the Like Button when it helps.
I got up 40min before normal (4:45AM) today just to drive "the scenic route" to work. And it works just as old times when the responsibility was in the hands of the driver. :D
I might have to leave job early to go the same way back home today, haha :D
So again, thank you very much, life quality went up hand in hand with the fuel consumption.. ;)
