HAve you checked the actual diagnostic line(s) from the OBD socket to its source against a wiring diagram?

Tricky one this as at first glance there are multiple faults in this car ?

1. Communication with the Scan tool - Which only needs to communicate with the Gateway

2. It Cranks and Starts (for a few seconds) So there must be communication from the Key (Steering Wheel) to the Engine ECU via another Module ??

3. It cuts out after start - typical symptoms of Immobiliser active

My guess is that the gateway is dead

1. No communication / Corrupt Diagnostic CAN to Scan tool - Hence no Scan
2. No communication / Corrupt Dash CAN with Cluster
(I believe there is a separate CAN Netwrk between Gateway and Cluster - Nothing else on that)
3. It can start and run because the faulty Gateway has no negative affect on Powertrain CAN - Other Networks we can look at later if need be.

I would now be all over that Gateway with WD from Erwin looking at powers grounds and communication lines !!

also has no wiper and brake error on dash and steering wheel button fault I
Has it pulled the LIN down too ??

Addition / Edit to post #6

My guess is that the gateway is dead

1. No communication / Corrupt Diagnostic CAN to Scan tool - Hence no Scan
2. No communication / Corrupt Dash CAN with Cluster - Immo is in the Cluster - That will for sure immobilise it !!

3. It can start and run because the faulty Gateway has no negative affect on Powertrain CAN - Other Networks we can look at later if need be.

I think I have found problem I thought the can line communication was been pulled down so I disconnected the abs unit there was still no change so I done a bit more research and I had look for gateway control unit it was located behind the panel under main light switch it was behind a line of relays and another control when I removed I found water dripping out of it I have removed it cover and cleaned with contact cleaner it shows signs of water damage . 7N0907530C is th gateway modul number .I am wondering will I have to code or program new one or can I use secondhand one.

Good catch !!

Wait for someone to come and confirm but I think you can throw a used one in there. You will need to code it but I reckon VCDS can do that.

Wait for confirmation please.

Best find and fix the source of water.

In what I expect is essentially an Mk6 car, that should be no problem.

I think the water is coming from condensation on inside of windowscreen dripping down inside dash I checked drain holes under windscreen wipers and drain holes are clean no water trapped there the modul is sitting facing up when installed in perfect position to let water build up in it.

Install new module, then scan the car. I'm reasonably confident we can help you get it coded.

Why is there condensation inside the windscreen, especially enough to drip down inside the dash? That amount of water has to be coming from somewhere. If, for example, the carpets are soaking wet, then I could see that amount of condensation forming, but then the first thing you should do is get the interior of this car thoroughly dried out.

Might - Might not

Try find the right one or at least find Part numbers that will supersede your original.
