The 2016 Jetta I bought came with an Alpine stereo that was dead (yet someone on Ebay thought it was worth spending $200 for) so I sold it. Picked up a cheap OEM radio only to find it will cost at least another $150 to remove component protection. Will be returning that one. Bought a new cheap aftermarket radio and I'm in the process of installing it. Seems to work good so far.
It has a plug-in for a backup camera and a sense wire that I assume can be connected to the reverse lights. Do all Jettas have the wiring installed for a backup camera even if they weren't equipped with one? I can buy a used OEM camera mounted in the trunk handle for $60 or an aftermarket add-on kit for $40 and want to know if I will be able to avoid fishing all the video cable from the trunk to the radio.
