Would all 2016 Jetta models have the wiring for a backup camera installed even if they didn't come with a backup camera?

The 2016 Jetta I bought came with an Alpine stereo that was dead (yet someone on Ebay thought it was worth spending $200 for) so I sold it. Picked up a cheap OEM radio only to find it will cost at least another $150 to remove component protection. Will be returning that one. Bought a new cheap aftermarket radio and I'm in the process of installing it. Seems to work good so far.

It has a plug-in for a backup camera and a sense wire that I assume can be connected to the reverse lights. Do all Jettas have the wiring installed for a backup camera even if they weren't equipped with one? I can buy a used OEM camera mounted in the trunk handle for $60 or an aftermarket add-on kit for $40 and want to know if I will be able to avoid fishing all the video cable from the trunk to the radio.

Can't speak to specifically to your 2016 Jetta but if it's anything like most VWs that wiring will not be there.

Agreed. VW has made a very exact science out of not installing a single strand of wire that isn't needed for the "as built" configuration of their cars.

That said, I'd be mildly surprised if a 2016 Jetta didn't originally have a backup camera. It wasn't mandatory in the USA until 2018, but most VW's got them earlier.

@atikovi -- Please post an Auto-Scan from this car for better context.

Will do. Looked at some videos on installing the trunk handle replacement cameras and fishing the wires to the radio doesn't look too bad. Ordered one off Amazon.
