Is IDE 06141 not supported on all ECU/Injector types?

Hi all,

Recently purchased VCDS having used it ‘back in the day’ when measuring blocks made everting a little simpler! Damn UDS! What prompted me to buy was the ability to reset the ‘injector minimum deviation quantity’ (IDE 06414) so that the ECU understands that injectors, although reconditioned through a Bosch Service Centre, are not new. Vehicle is a 2011 VW Caddy 2.0 TDI CR, engine code CFHC.

To my surprise, the option is not listed? I have read several posts both here and outside of Ross Tech that point to the software version of the ECU dictates whether or not this task may be performed? Any truth to this?

I’m guessing I’m going to be asked for a full auto scan, right? 😂 That’s no problem, I can add that later today when I can get back to the garage.

Any info in the meantime appreciated.

Yes there is truth! The ECU determines which options are available to you. The VAG engineers and their vendors are the ones that decide the "features" we get to change/modify.

Post the autoscan and more complete info can be given.

Is the general opinion that the 'dieselgate repair' software must be flashed to the ECU to enable this function? Are there multiple versions and, are there versions to go for or avoid?

As far as I can tell from the data I have available, the software in your ECU does not support IDE06141.

Damn. Not good. I’ll post the log from after the software was updated today (and in the correct area! 😂) Please could you direct me to where within the log, the version is listed?

There is often an option to code the Injectors.

If the option is not there then Move on !! That is it !! Easy !!

The ecu is more than capable of Learning the "characteristics of each individual Injector.

Coding has been completed - VCDS acknowledges the correct injector in each cylinder.

No. A fault remains with idle. Simply ‘moving on’ isn’t the answer and it certainly is not “easy”. It won’t remedy itself. By understanding if other versions of software do have the facility to perform this function, then this could resolve the issue as it has done so many others.
