Hi guys, I have one of those baddies of 1K0614517BE ABS assy on my 2009 EOS. I spoke to some people here in Australia and they all said it's impossible to code another ABS but according to this thread https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/31859/ the guys down here are wrong...

So my plan is, if it's possible to code I'd rather buy a second hand pump and control module of a better version than BE as they will cost a couple of hundred bucks and then spend another 600 bucks on a VCDS and do it myself (and learn something!) instead of buying a second hand BE for over 1k that will fail again. I used VCDS before that I borrowed from a friend to do all sorts of things on my Q7 TDI but now with two VAG cars in the garage it's about time I have my own. So what you guys think - what would be a good replacement for the unreliable old 1K0614517BE?
Would 1K0614517ED be ok? Or even 1K0614517AC? Before I make a decision on how to fix the car I wanna make sure other versions of the control module can be coded. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks heaps guys!

They're definitely wrong. Check all the threads with MK60EC1 in the title. There dozens if not hundreds of them.

My impression is that it's generally not the pump that's the problem but the control module. You're calling out pump numbers, not control module numbers.

Got ya, thanks. I had a look on a lot of them threads. And you are absolutely right, it's probably the control module (specially being a BE). I just bought a second hand module and pump. Obviously part #s are different but I believe it can be coded based on all I read. The only thing is: I don't have a VCDS and I hire one from a dude here in Australia and according to him it's the original Ross Tech interface (he charges 100 bucks/hour to use) but he doesn't know how to use and doesn't want to get involved. It's pretty much paying just people paying him 100 bucks and he sits next to you whilst you plug his computer and interface to your car.

If I do a complete scan and post here would anyone be able to charge me to generate the long coding I need, and match my vin so I can code the module and then do the configuration procedures? Keeping in mind I am going a couple of versions above my original control module (couldn't find a BE anywhere and the ones I've found were like $2K, for a control module that eventually will go faulty again...).

I am keen on buying my own interface but so close before Christmas and with the distance I am not sure how long it will take to get here (believe me it's cheaper to spend 530 bucks on the interface than paying him 100 bucks every time I need to scan the car). I am more than happy to pay a fee to get the coding (that alone with the hire of the interface is almost half of what the interface at RossTech website costs :( As I live so far the shipping cost is almost the same as the interface cost alone (living on this side of the world makes everything more expensive mate). Thank y'all in advance for your kind help.

We have Australian Distributors... They are supposed to have stock. Have you contacted any?

You might even find some willing to give the coding help for free...

Matching the VIN can only be done with special tools to the best of my recollection. That may require you to send the modules out to someone to have it done. Others will likely be able to be more specific on that need.

Sure, assuming the guy is telling you the truth and is using a legitimate VCDS system. If it's a clone/pirate copy, the scan will go to Davey Jones' locker. ;)

Yes. A 3-VIN to Unlimited license upgrade costs $338 (US Dollars) and can be done in two steps if that helps (3 to 10, then 10 to Unlimited).

Instead of paying him 200 bucks to use his scan I'm buying mine locally. The guys here have one in stock, should arrive by Tuesday/Wednesday. :)

Admin may adjust that for you OR have you fill out a new form with you SN. I would now look into getting verified. See blue bar at top of this page ; "how-to" -click on it, and select "how to get verified".
It is early evening here in the mid west/ north east US, so Admin. may answer you this evening or tomorrow. Welcome!
You can also send the info. / SN to Support@Ross-Tech.com
