Resolved How to code new module for MK7 VW GTI

I guess I'm still waiting for my Verification. I bought my HEX+CAN directly from Ross-Tech. (It's the third version I've purchased.)

Here's my question: My Rear Left Blind Spot Radar Module 5Q0907685B was damaged so I bought a used replacement. Unfortunately, I didn't do my research and thought I could just plug it in and then set the coding so it would work with the car. I never had any issues with the car before this, so I never got a baseline scan. When I tried plugging the new Module in, I had one of the ABS sensors unplugged and I got what seemed like 20 faults and I was afraid I killed my car. After plugging everything in except for the new module, I was able to reset all the faults except for the ones related to the Blind Spot Radar Module. How does one go about programming the car to accept the replacement Module? I did save the current scan. I'm afraid to plug the replacement module back in. Will it wipe any of my coding if I do? If I don't have the original coding, is there a way to change the coding so the replacement Module will work with my car? PLEASE HELP!

Ideally you'd also post a scan with the new part fitted, but I can understand you don't want to risk that again yet, so that can hopefully wait until someone with good knowledge of this system looks at your scan

Now that I know, I will always do a baseline scan. For what it's worth, my car is a Manual transmission Autobahn with ACC.

Here is my scan after I got all the faults cleared with the Rear Left Blind Spot Radar Module disconnected. Let me know if I messed anything up.

Here is the scan after I plugged the module in the first time. I had Malfunction status on 01 Engine, 03 ABS Brakes, 09 Cent. Elect., 13 Auto Dist. Reg, 15 Airbags, 2B Steer. Col. Lock, 32 Differential Locks, 3C Lane Change, 52 Door Elect Driver, 55 Headlight Range, and 5F Information Electr. What do you think caused that to happen? Is the Blind Spot Radar Module tied to another car's VIN? Do you think it will do it again if I plug the module back in?

Should I go back and clear the faults again and repost? The module was out of a Passat. Same part number as the one originally in my car. Is that data set something that can be changed with ODIS? What are my options at this point? Thanks for your help with this.

Unfortunately, "same part number" no longer guarantees compatibility. Dataset must be correct too.

I would think so. ODIS-S will probably need an on-line connection to be able to retrieve the proper dataset from VW's servers. ODIS-E should be able to do it if you happen to have the correct dataset.

Just a follow-up on this. I ended up buying another used module out of a 2016 Golf Sportwagen. Seller verified it would work with my VIN. I plugged it in and everything is working with no faults. Thanks for all the help, I never could have gotten this sorted out without it. I appreciate the education...
