Unfortunately I do not because I sent my old module to be replaced and they said it is not repairable and then I got one of a scrap car and I put it on. I did not have my VCDS until 2 days ago so I never scan my car with my old module on to have the old coding.

First things first, are you sure the unit you have installed will work in the car? Original part number was 1K0 907 379 CE I think a good suitable replacement should be 1K0907379CC. Not what you have installed.

Survey says no, original was as I mentioned as in that's what the vehicle originally came with, It might of been changed at one point. Also incorrect coding as per vin.

@EuroX I looked this over and the car had to be factory equipped with SW: 1K0 907 379 AE / HW: 1K0 907 379 AE. The SWL was likely 0106 from the factory and Jef's coding looks good to me.

Unlike the VW models, when the A3 had the flash update (the MK60EC1 recall that didn't fix bad ABS modules) from 1K0 907 379 AE -to- 1K0 907 379 CE at SWL 0120 the final SVM coding was modified on some of the VINs. That was Byte 4, Bit 6 and the inverted change was made to Byte 12, Bit 1.

This takes me back near 10 years but the scans immediately after the flash update, where the ABS module bricked and needed to be replaced with a proper new (non-reflashed) unit, did not have the modified coding after ODIS configuration. In other words, they were back to the factory coding. I believe that was early enough that those new units were still 1K0 907 379 AP @ 0107.

Providing there is one, pull up the scan before that unit was flashed to 1K0907379CE. I would expect the redacted coding to be different in the Bytes mentioned above if you can obtain an older scan at SWL 0104 or 0106.

@ergigashi , feel free to ignore all of this back and forth. I'm confident your car is OK but VW/Audi made a mess of this already failure prone ABS situation.


@EuroX , thanks for confirming that older scan. If VW/Audi would have done the right thing and replaced those ABS modules when they were forced to recall them all of this nonsense would have been avoided but they found a way to pass along the cost to customers in a way that was compliant with the law.

Side note rant. Years ago we worked with countless US based customers (either directly or by supporting workshops that had these cars on-site) that had the recall open, the ABS module was dead/offline, it went to the dealer and they managed to get it to communicate one last time. That might have been by hitting the unit with the blunt end of a tool ... but in any event the flash was completed, car was parked outside and the customer was called to fetch their car. In some cases as soon as they got into the car while on the dealer lot the holiday celebration of lights was back on. In other cases they got a single drive cycle out of it. Either way, the ABS was still faulty but now that it was "fixed" VW wasn't accountable and the customer was out of pocket if they wanted it fixed (for real).​

In my experience it was only the 8P1 and 8PA Audi A3 that had this revised coding modification with the flash update and I focus less on the part numbers and more at the SWL. Levels 0104, 0106 and 0107 took the old scheme. In this case PL24 shows 1K0 907 379 AJ based on VIN which should still be 0107 and OK to use the factory condition/non-modified coding.

However, in the rare cases where someone has the latest new repair kit installed and it is newer than SWL 0120 we dig deeper. The same applies to the wrong but newer ABS module.
