00 beetle ute

So im at the end of this build. After sitting 5 years , running it at least monthly, its time for mechanical. What I want to do is erase all codes (including airbag) put some miles on it and test again. Mods done include replacing the seats ( airbag code) chopping and gluing bolting riveting the kit on, paint stereo. THOUGHTS?

Nah not chance. My guess is either cam sensor issue or wiring or timing is off by 1 tooth or could be related to crank position trigger wheel. If it's cracked or missing some teeth but thats rare.

1.8T beetle timing belt for sure no doubt about it. EPC is most likely related to cam sensor. Does the vehicle have extended crank?

It starts quickly, though on occasion makes a weird whiny sound as the starter disengages

is there a way to check timing? Or do I need to disassemble the front? Everything I find is "how to replace"

engine is mounted sideways. There is 1 mark on the exhaust cam gear and 1 mark on the crank pulley. You would need to set the crank to TDC and see if the mark line up with their respective correct locations.

todays scan after replacing downstream O2 and MAF senser. I also undid and re did the connections on the ABS unit ( did nothing)
