but he did manage to pick door lock and cut 2 blanks that work. Would like to think he knew what he was doing??
Knowing how to pick a lock and cut keys that work mechanically is a completely different skill than knowing the nuances of VAG clusters/immobilizers.

So Locksmith states that there was no eeprom data to read when he attempted it, said somebody must have messed with it previously, which they haven't🤨 Only thing done to car previously was ABS pump was replaced and recoded successfully with the original coding which I sadly do not have due to Laptop replacement. Have checked all my files and I did not save it anywhere😥
From my limited understanding of I was to source a replacement custer I should be able to do a cluster swap as I have the ECU PIN(confirmed working)which is the same as the cluster PIN?
Then get a Locksmith who knows how to code keys properly to have another go. I appreciate no-one is likely to want to touch it after all this😔

If not is there somebody on here local to South Bristol who can help us out? Or guide me through this minefield?
Just looking for next best route to go down

Just like so called engineers I work with who do not know how to wire a 3 pin plug🤭

Really appreciate everyone's input

Before the locksmith did you have the immobilizer light in the cluster?
You can't adapt new cluster only it the pin and VCDS

Not as a warning. Guess would have been there when ignition was switched on until car recognised key
Thanks christo_844 for your responses

Locksmith was the first to power car up, as had been sat for a while. No one was with the locksmith when he did the keys so unsure what clocks were displaying when powered up.

Can anyone suggest what my options are to get a working cluster in the car so I can sort ABS coding.
Bit stuck as locksmith is saying cluster was in service mode when he cut the keys.
Only thing I can think is because battery was flat for so long when power was attached to the car there was a voltage surge which ruined the cluster.

So update on this

Have had the Immobilizer removed car starts and runs a treat.

Son had a photo of the original ABS coding all along  :banghead:
It is
133B400D09230003C81402E9901F00803000

But keep getting error 31: request out of range. I'm guessing this is down to cluster still being in service mode? Is there any way of getting the coding to accept?

I'm at the point of just pushing it into a lake somewhere:rolleyes:

The original abs code is linked to the vin in the cluster and ecu among other things. So its probably not as easy as putting it back. You need to get the cluster out of service mode.

Thought so. 😕
So could someone with the correct tool could reflash the eeprom so that it is no longer in service mode??
I would then be able to code the ABS pump?

Thanks for that cristo. So if I was to buy an equivelent lockset ECU and cluster, fit it in the car. I should then be able to get a working and coding??. Are there any other modules that hold the vin which would cause conflict?

Thanks for confirming, have found a matching ECU, cluster and locks with key, so will get son to buy it. Will just change the blade in the key so won't need to change locks or ignition barrel. Should then be able to code pump.
Only issue will be milage I presume?
