MK6 Golf TDI - Foglights inoperative

[DEMON-S8]

Hello All,

With guidance from memebers on the group, I've recently corrected a no start issue I was having with my MK6 Golf TDI. Part of the remedy to correct the no start issue was replacing the BCM.

I recently noticed however that the fog lights are inoperable. I have continuity from the light switch to the BCM, from BCM to the fog lights. But am getting no voltage out of the BCM to fog light, the bulbs are good.

In the BCM I can enable /disable fog lights (coding accepted) , which leads me to believe the BCM has protocols for foglights.

When I switch on the fog lights the LED indicator illuminates on the switch, however it doesn't reflect that the fog lights are engaged in BCM measuring blocks.

Is it possible that the BCM although showing fog light capabilities is not programmed for foglight functions?

I think that is why I enquired Front or Rear Fogs - Equally I have no Clue what the requirement in your region is !!


In the Uk we have to have at least one rear fog light and no requirement for Front Fog lights - At least it was - may have changed recently - I cannot say for certain without looking !!

We see Japanese Grey Imports here that do not have rear fog light when they land.

1K0 937 086 P is part # for the original BCM (TDI), It had water damage from faulty sunroof drainage.

The current BCM in vehicle was purchased on ebay, listed from a Golf R, assumed it was high line. I will attempt to make contact with the seller.

Surely you meant without fog lights rather than without headlights? Headlights are required on all road-legal cars. Fog lights aren't.

Check your 084, there are No Pins in the Connector for Front Fog Lights.
