Not too bad for that mileage - Unlikely to be the cause of a No Start
it always starts but long crank time especially hot

That there is a well known and documented issue with that Engine
just google "vw Pd hot start problem"
the TSB has already been done. the ecu has been updated and coding is correct. fuel pressure, volume, etc. all meet specs. i dont know where to go next. i did find a ambient sensor in the cowl that has been chewed on and has a open. i am fixing it right now but i dont think it would effect starting.

You quite possibly need a new starter. NEW. Or at least make sure all the connection on the power and earth circuits are immaculate.
A local guy went through 3 used ones, before getting a new one that fixed it. They are very sensitive to cranking RPM.
