Hi .. Im new here , and im from norway.
I bougth a Passat 2008, The car had been on EU controll before i bougth it. and i have to go back to workshop and show that all failure that the car got is repair before i can get the licens plate to it.
Everything is good now ... BUT..... static corning ligth rigth side is not workin. this i need to fix, and its the last thing i need to do.

I scan the car with a normal scanner, and get up code 02236 .
this is later type og headligth. the modules are the same from rigth/left
So i have change between the sides from rigth to left afs power module, that small afs module , H7 bulb, Xenon bulb, and xenon driver . But still the same ... all this is ligthning in the left side.
I messurement the power from fuse ( fusebox D fuse number 5 (or 4 dont remember rigth now) and the power came to the socket of the headligth ...
I was out of ides.. So i bougth this VCDS scanner ,,,
BUt It dont show me more information then the small sheap scanner.. all the same codes, and noe more info about moduels ---
i went into 55 headligth took basic settings--- learn --- done ..
And still same failure
Do i really have to start to change part? wire harness are so complex, its hard to follow in the car .. and to follow the curernt .. i cant do it, cuse of all modules... this is not a "old school" current
I have check the wire inside the headligth . from afs powermodule ti h7 bulb wire are fine. i see on the others wires, and dont see nothing wrong. was all the money for this VCDS scanner waste of money?

So now im completly out fo ides... next is to buy new headligth, new level sensor. new steering module... start to take apart the wire harness .. . reallly.. for one ligth , then i scrap the car !

all i noted was in the scanner... when i steer left, the live data show in stasic cornering ligth 92 % and it went down when i take steering wheel back... when i go to rigth ... it show 102 % and the failure code come in the dash AFS but when strigth up the steeringwheel from rigth... its still stay on 102%

I do really really need help now ... Please !! :)

The fault for the right Cornering Lamp is defined as an open circuit. Yes, I'm sure you are correct that this lamp control is performed with Pulse Width Modification - chopped, pulsing voltage & current. Most likely the controller for the lamp provides the connection to the vehicle ground. This should all be obvious from the wiring diagrams.
Where I would look for a solution is on the ground side of the circuit. The transistor in the control module turns on and makes a connection to ground, pulling the current from the high voltage side of the lamp... which I believe you said is connected to 12v..

The controller monitors the current flow and when it measures a near 0 current, it reports the open circuit.

As to the value of the tool, if bought to solve only this problem, then perhaps you miscalculated the value and the tool needed. This problem is most likely going to take electrical technician skills with a VOM (Volt Ohm Meter -digital or analog doesn't matter, just that the user of the tool needs to know how to use the tool.)

Did you ask in this forum before purchase? If you had, we would have told you that a diagnostic tool cannot give information that the control module does not know. The diagnostic tool just queries the control module for the information it possesses.

For further help here, you need to register your VCDS purchase and you need to get verified in this forum.

Hi , and thanks for answeres :) yes i will registrad my vcds when i got home today, its connectet to my home laptop . :)
I just have no ides longer were to start ..
And about this module power, current,/voltage .. yes.. i dont know what to look for .
I can use a VOM.. but dont know what to looking for ... im not so tecnical that i can follow the circuit in a module. but i do understand electrical componets, and chematic ..
Så i have try to make messurments to the front ligth connector (14pin) and see in chema what nubers go to what ... i figure out there is 2 wire how coes to CAN-BUS.. i think its thees two wire hoe controlls the AFS number 1 and 2 in the connector -- Its what i have understand from the schematic.. 4 is +12 from fuse . and number 14 is 12 V - but what signal 1 and 2 should have.. i dont know,,..

Buy one hour erwin access and take all wiring diagrams for your vehicle. And all else you can download in that hour. Then let us know, so we can proceed with an electrical diagnosis.

I bougth this VCDS scanner becuse in norwegian VAG forum.. they say :
you need VCDS scanner , or OBD11 .. then you can scan modules. and you will find the failure,, and you can also set 55 headligth control module to basic setting . Than will help, or you can see acuary what module how are failure.. like headligth, steeringwheel sensor, level sensor...
And i understand this VCDS dont help my problem . I just get up the same information as i dit with the icarsoft scanner ... only diffrent was that in vcds i was abel to set the 55 headligth controll module in basic settings .. but that dosent help. and now i need to use more money on other intrenett downloads .. i have already use to much money on this car with all technical thardwares .. like breaks , bearings... .. i left this ligth problem to last.. then i was thinking it was the smallest problem to fix...

But i understand... this one small bulb ho do not work in one side, its the biggest issue with the car .. So i think i will take the lost that i have spent allredy in new parts, and work i have done.. and dont spend any more money for scanners, internett schematic.. and time ..
I have really give up now, and i will scarp the car.. i dont see any point to use more money for this car... and even then its not sure it will get fixet...

i bougt this scanner with 3 licens.. so i hope i can sell it ,, it still 2 left to use ..
now i really dont see any point to use more money on it.. and it will not ever get the fixet .

but thanks anyone for the helps ..
there was not so much ideas here in this forum what i could try to look afther , so i think this is a unique troubel shoot on this car only

just learn my lesson... never try to buy a VAG agein :)

thanks anyway.. ;)
and i allready have found the free schematic in internett... its on 2150 pages :)) Its for the complete car. I have try to follow it. and make messurements for the electrical harness.. but i could not find one thing with the harness who looks wrong... so ii have to be somthing with a modules or coding.somthing like that.all modules in the headligth have been changes from left to rigth,,, same modules are working in the left side,, and if not a scanner could find it some trouble codes with any other components ... then i dont know what to look for anymore..
And yes i understand this VCDS are not like a icarsoft scanner ... in VCDS its more about coding a car... if you want you window to close when rainsensor start.. and how ligth settings will be . to activate webasto... but troble shooting .. ye.. i dont know.. just looks like there is no more answeres then a cheap unlicens scanner can tell.. its just what i see... but also it can be that i cant use this scanner the rigth way.. i dont know..
just dont have any more ideas were to look or troubleshoot ...

Can you crop that part which shows this bulb, upload to imgur and post a link here? So I can see the schematic of this bulb?
Don’t scrap anything, it’s just a bulb and some wires.

here in this site is wiring diagram :
its on page 239 .
T14e is is rigth headligth connector
Bulb is M52
in nautral possision i messure -12 V on connector T14e /5,7,14
T14e /4 its + 12v and i have messure from fuseboks left side dash to the connector 14e/4 this wire are good.
T142 6,10,11 i do think this is the wire to park ligth, and hi/low beam controller
AFS modules i do think they are controled by T14e 1,2 signal .
I have changes this parts from rigth headligth to the left . and all this parts are working on the left headligth :
M52, M3, J668 , G475 , J344
I have check all wires in headlamp .
there is only one wire left, its from xenon driver to xenon bulb. Was thinking to svitch this over from left to rigth,,just to be sure that its not his cabel how make me crazy :)
All motors and adjustment in the headligth are working, all ligths are working, but not this H7 halogen static cornering lamp (M52)
Idont really need it.. but aslong it was marked in a EU control, it need to be fixed before i can get the licensplate back on the car.. It was totaly 7 fail on controll.when i bougth the car , i was looking at the paper .. thinking. this i can fix , 6 of this is completed.but the last one... the one i think should be the easy one.... yes... it was my nigthmare :))))))
To bad a small failure are doing so much caos... I have now use 3 weeks on this issue .And i feel only i get more and more stupid more that look on it :))))))) and understand less and less of it

There is only 2 codes in the car one for clima (just one heat regulation port not working) and this 02236 code for the headligt...
no code for levelsensor. no codes for modules in headligth.

And i understand this VCDS dont help my problem
VCDS, like any diagnostic tool, can only report what the VAG software in the modules is willing to pass on.

That then gives the clues what needs to be inspected both visually and with other tools like a multimeter.

It seems your expectation that any diagnostic tool alone can solve your problem(s) was an unrealistic one which no diagnostic tool could ever meet.

Hence the need for a wiring diagram correct for your particular vehicle, a multimeter and some guidance from people who have solved similar problems before.

If J668 is confirmed good on the other side.
If M52 is confirmed good on the other side.

Then the fault is with the connectors between J668 and M52. And by that I mean the pins might of been spread out and make no electrical connection.

My test would be to directly connect to J668 a test lamp, with appropriate pins test connections. Erase fault code after test lamp connection. If fault goes away, then the problem is found. Search pin drag test with search engine.

Hi agein .

i have try to test the wire from T12/ T 12/6 to M52 so i dont think this will help. but i will try yes :)

Today..... i try... to switch complete headtligshs fra left to rigth,, and rigth to left , i see the number and the colorcode on the harnes to connector was the same on both side

After i change the side to the headligth When i took the steering wheel to the left... the the rigth headlamp M52 went on.. . so the car think it was still standig on left side,,, so wiring harnes into connector to the rigth lamp are good,, When i turn the steering wheel to the rigth.. nothing happen it in the left lamp..
So all harness are good on the rigth side..
So it have to be in the headlamp, or signal from the car how failure

Thanks for your time... i will try to put a "load" on the connector T12/12 T12/6 to see that will help :) :)
