Hi new here...How do I get Glow status (measuring block group 012) to show/log when I have to turn the key in the ON position to get VCDS to connect, and in the meantime glow plugs have already cycled?

I'm thinking not possible unless I pull the glow plug, and observe...but thought i'd ask in case I'm wrong.

Thanks.

I don't understand your question. Can you re-phrase, please?

From a cold start I'm trying to log it (capture into a graph, or csv file) of the glow plug running, but by the time ive turned the key into the ON position, and load the measuring block the glow plugs would have cycled on/off already (it's like 2.5 seconds).

In the capture below the glow plugs already cycled before I could get VCDS to capture.

Code:
Group B: '012
Glow Status Pre-Glow Period Supply Voltage Coolant

You are better off using an instrument to measure Voltage at the Glow Plug

That is a question for the design team that built your car !! A diagnostic tool has no control over that !!

So your saying VCDS cannot record the state of the glow plug when the relay was given the command for voltage...then what is the "Pre-Glow Period" that I showed an example of in my prior post for?

VCDS can only record what your ECU is willing to report, and your ECU can't "talk" until the ignition is on.

The "glow period" Which is an ECU Output, will be calculated at each Ignition on Event by the ECU based on the control strategy written in the ECU of your German Car - Work of the Devil I say !!

The car YOU chose !! Your Choice !! Your Money !! Your Problem !! Hence I would not EVER have a German Car - That is MY CHOICE !!

Why the obsession with Glow plugs anyway ??

What drama you trying to solve ???
