Hi all, I hope you can advise.
2011 DSG Golf with the following issues:
1. Lost gears 2, 4, 6 and reverse
2. Wrench/spanner service light
3. Intermittent, fault can be cleared but returns
4. Fault codes are P073B 008 Not selectable Gear 6 - 001851
5. Component: GSG DSG AG7
Scenario:
At random intervals the car would defect into this mode, where only one clutch is available, I lose the positive gears plus reverse, but can drive in 'manual' mode with some caution.
It always happened after or during a stop, never when driving at speed.
The engine light was never initially lit, only the wrench/spanner, turning the engine fully off and on again allowed the car to run normally, and with no warning lights.
After a period of two months the issue compounded and resulted in a permanent engine light and wrench light, only using the computer could reset it.
After clearing codes, and replacing the battery (it was original) the car ran very well for around 100km, then the intermittent issues returned.
Questions
Has anyone successfully resolved this issue? And if so, how?
Why did changing the very old battery fix the issue for a few days? Is current not being fully supplied to the clutch pack? If so how to check?
Many thanks in advance,
David.
