Hello everyone,
Thank you in advanced for reading this post and any insight is helpful! I'm running into some issues trying to replace ECM in my 2014 VW Jetta SE.
Quick background - I recently purchased the car and have been combing through recalls and typical vehicle maintenance to refresh it and get it running healthy again.
Question: I'm attempting to swap the ECM with a direct replacement (identical p/n and SIMOS 12.2). When i swap the ECM, the car attempts to start but stalls and displays "IMMOBiLIZER" on the column display as expected. I'm fairly new to VCDS and VAGcom, but I understand that there is probably multiple adaptations and processes involved with installing a replacement ECM. I attempted to follow a wiki article here: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_IV_ECU_Swapping. However, when I select [01-Engine] the [Meas. Blocks - 08] is greyed out and i'm unable to continue the instructions. So, I stopped the swap and reinstalled the old ECM to get the car to start again. I'm attempting to replace the ECM as i'm unsure if there was any changes to it as it was a used vehicle. So, i'm hoping to swap a default replacement ECM into the car.
From what I understand, I have to install the ECM, adapt the CAN gateway, and then perform key adaptations for the ECM to recognize the key fobs and turn off the immobilizer. This car doesn't have a physical ignition key hole, but instead, sensors and a start/stop engine button. Any insight on the process would be greatly appreciated. The car current runs and starts with the old ECM, but i'm getting ERROR that the CAN BUS is coded incorrectly - please see scan details. If i switch to the new ECM, the car doesn't start.
