Hello everybody,
I don’t own any Ross Tech software yet, but I’m interested in buying but not looking to spend a fortune. I’m looking for the OBD1 software that would work with a 1992 Volkswagen Corrado SLC and also the adapter plug for it. Can somebody send me the link for this please? All help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Thank you, Boki Ar,
I appreciate you sending that link is that the free version? It looks like it is, from what I read it also doesn’t offer any Customer Support. Can it be used on a smart phone? Never mind downloaded on a laptop?

Thanks again.

You cannot use that on a smartphone and you will still need an interface - which is money. Lack of support makes that NOT a good buy.

would say this at $200

Just check that it can work on your car !

The support alone is worth more than $200.

~$20 or so on eBay or Amazon.

Lack of support makes that NOT a good buy.
No start-up support, but the risk is ~$20. Fully supported if he gets it working and registers the software for $99.

If I owned that car, instead of buying the adapter plug, I'd find a 16-Pin OBD-II socket out of a newer car at a junkyard and wire it in parallel with the original 2x2 connectors. You only need to connect four wires:

Yeah, I figured it wouldn’t work on a smart phone, but I just wanted to double check. Also, I checked out that link the other guy sent me and it looks like most of the stuff was expired including the obd1 adapter plug. Can you tell me what exactly would work for this car? There Looks like pages and pages worth of stuff I’m not looking to read a dictionary here to find answers. Just a simple Volkswagen OBD1 link would be great.
Is the free version still available?

Ok lets get to it... you need a KKL wire from the web. Google it... You'll have to decide how you will adapt the 16 pin plug to the dual - 2 pin plugs. Options have been given in this thread.

Most of the KKL wires will be compatible with VAGCOM 409 or something to that effect. They should work with VCDS-Lite. You pick one you like and then with the help of your supplier, get it installed and working with the free VCDS-Lite you download from the Ross-Tech website. (I don't want to tax you with finding the information on our web site so the blue text is a link to the download page.) Do note, Ross-Tech has not asked you to pay anything so far....

Once you have VCDS-Lite working on your Windows PC through the KKL wire you have purchased, if you need the functions that are locked in the free version, come back to the Ross-Tech website and now purchase the registration: Register VCDS-Lite (Cost $99) Again a note: Purchasing a registration for VCDS-Lite will not make the wire you bought work with VCDS-Lite. We will not support the install because we have no clue about the hardware in the device you buy nor do we know the drivers the supplier will provide. So, no help on this from us.

With a proper install you will have a tool that will work on your vehicle.

-Alternative-

Our lowest cost full option running our full VCDS is our $199 Enthusiast HEX-V2. That device works for most VAG vehicles from 1995 through 2025 and with the 2x2 adapter, works with 1991 through 1995... If you have installation problems, we support the user as they try to get things running. This solution still requires the 2x2 adapter or a permanently wired 16 pin OBDII DLC connector.

What else might we do to help you?

Hello Bruce,
And good afternoon thank you very much. I really appreciate that. I think I’ll definitely look into this enthusiast Hex V2. I’ll Definitely invest in buying that 2 x 2 adapter. That seems like a lot better option than the 16 pin OBD 2 DLC connector.
