This is a cross-post from VWVortex as I'm still a bit lost in terms of sorting this problem.
I recently replaced the ignition lock in my 2006 Jetta after I had it fail on me in my driveway (thankfully). Since then, I have been trying to resolve the infamous steering angle defective code to no avail. I have tried on numerous occasions to get the car to go through the calibration process for it outlined on Ross Tech's wiki for code 00778, in addition to watching numerous videos and reading tons of threads on this, but I have not had any luck. I used VCDS to query the ABS sensors and all four of them appear to be reading the same speed, but I won't rule it out if it warrants another visit. Any time I am anywhere near G85 calibration within VCDS, I usually see something indicating that it is not possible. I've verified that the steering wheel lines up with the notch on the steering column, and I thought I was careful enough with the clock spring when I removed it to replace the lock, but perhaps something is wrong there.
I also had a code for the steering column control module when I initially put everything back together. I double-checked that the connectors are fully seated and cleared the code. It has not reappeared. For reference, here was the code that I received.
