Here's an update on this vehicle.
It had that infamous P0106 code.
This is what I had to do to fix it:
1. Update the Aux Air Pump hose/sensor & replaced the solenoid valve.
2. Clean the throttle body
3. Replace the PCV valve (Dorman part).
4. Add a 'catch can' to the PCV hose.
I did that by cutting the hard plastic PCV hose even with the back of the engine (near the oil fill),
Then made a step-down adapter out of a 3/8 copper coupling which I silver soldered to a piece of 1/2 copper tubing after slightly enlarging one end.
Then I slid on a piece of power steering hose that I had lying around (from the 90's), and connected it to the inlet nipple of the catch can.
Then I re-routed the PCV return line as another piece of that p/s hose from the catch can exit nipple to the manifold hard plastic hose.
I cut that hard plastic line to about 3" long and connected it to the hose using another home-made copper coupling.
I made the second copper coupling the same as the fist except with a 10" long extension of 1/2 copper pipe which I formed to go up and then over the top of the plastic intake duct.
Then I connected that to the it to the catch can exit nipple.
The catch can sits in front of the battery, being zip-tied to the plastic bracket that holds the p/s reservoir.
I used crimp clamps on the hard plastic hose connection and good quality wide hose clamps on both ends of both rubber p/s hoses.
5. Tightened the intake manifold bolts to spec. They were ALL loose.
6. Smoke tested the intake/PCV system and tightened up all connections that showed leaks.
7. Cleaned the oil soaked MAP sensor with throttle body cleaner and reinstalled.
8. Used to clear all codes and recalibrate the throttle body.
Now, the car idles perfectly, and runs 'like a raped ape'.
Without , this job would NOT be possible!
