Airbag Module Coding

Hello all who read, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have a customers Audi A1 accident repaired when bought. Air bag fault due to "high resistace" on the battery interupt igniter (not present). I believe the module is either incorrect or incorrectly coded. I would like to code out the battery interupt igniter as it is not present (OE harness doesnt have battery interupter). I dont have access to the old module unfortunatley to scrape the long code. I don't think this is a coding issue. Check this Adaptation channel:

MAS00975-MAS00022 -- Airbag adaptations - Battery Interrupt Igniter

If it can't be set there, then I suspect it will need a different dataset.

If it needs that altered, it would need to be flashed, and that's something you can't do with VCDS.

Let's go step by step.

Was the currently installed module used or new? If it was a new module, who did the initial coding etc.? If it is a used module, this has likely an incorrect dataset as Uwe already indicated, personally I would not play with that. Nobody in their right might will guarantee full functionality after such attempts.

Now here's why I am shaking my head. On an Airbag 10.41 system like this, a replacement module should not have been necessary in the first place. Unless the car literally rolled over, the old module should still be good according to manufacturer specifications. That raises even more questions. Was this actually a different (used) module or (what sounds much more plausible to me), did sb. mess with the software/dataset of the original airbag control module? In either case, I don't think this module could be trusted.

Sebastian, thank you for weighing in. Unfortunatley my knoledge on the modules providence is limited and same for the customer. The person they bought the car from advised the AB light was on due to steering wheel change. so who knows if its the original module ornot. Your plausible idea deffinatley has merrit as there doesnt seem to be much sign of tom foolery when it comes to the AB modules surrounding components being disturbed. May I please ask your recommendations for moving forward (OE new replacement?). I appreciate your help as I am here to learn.

It's hard to come up with a specific recommendation without knowing all the details/history. If the module was replaced, I would expect there to be some invoice for the work/replacement etc., in order to look into this after the fact you could certainly check the Advanced ID details in the airbag control module (feel free to post the details displayed by VCDS here). This would give some hints towards the production date of the module, which could be a clue. There may be some additional details, which could also be helpful but this is a long shot and would likely not solve but merely investigate the issue further.

What it boils down to, the module has either been replaced, reset or somehow been programmed incorrectly. Since this is a safety system, I am not a friend of playing any games and would work along the manufacturer specifications. This will most likely imply replacing the module with a new one and programming it accordingly.
