Many thanks for the suggestions and responses. I will work on this and also down load the wiring diagram from ERWIN for the stop start switch when i can sort how to do it. I am still concerned about a voltage reading from terminal 2 at the push/start button! if i can get some clarification on this i feel it will put me in a good direction. 9.66v seems so wrong. once again thanks for the input so far, really appreciate it.

Here's my take, but without looking at the schematic, so I could be waaayyyy off. The 9.66V is a "control" voltage from the soft switch used to "start" the BCM (ignition/lock module). Most electronic devices (think of your remote control) don't use metal contacts anymore, they use a "resistance" kind of switch. Carbon coated rubber or similar, something that your electronic switch will sense it was pushed.

Replace the steeringmodule on top of the steering wheel under the dash. I had the same problem.
You need Odis to code the new module.
