Morning all!

Having the above error somewhat randomly after fitting a replacement injector to cylinder #3. The injector I used is sold as "recon" and as a result comes with a set of risks, I just want to try and narrow down if this "new" injector is at fault to speak to the seller to see what my options are;

Specifically the faults that I am interested in. I was driving and the engine just cut out, was able to restart with an ignition cycle only for it to quit 30 seconds later. The second stop, the engine would just crank and never fire, I disconnected Injector 3 (the one I replaced) and was able to limp home. Sadly I cant recreate this issue with any consistency.

Ive chatted to a mechanic friend and he suggested the fault (P2147) from his experience is signs of a bad injector, testing is confirmed by disconnecting each in sequence and trying to crank the engine. The issue I have is that my fault seems to clear itself with ignition cycle so I cant get 100% repeatable tests to confirm the suspect #3 injector.

Has anyone maybe seen the issue before or notice any extremes in my very narrow data logs?

Yes but never never relied on Serial processed data logs for anything ever !!

7594 - Supply Voltage for Fuel Injector Group A P2146 00 [00100000] - Open Circuit

For sure that is Open Circuit !!

Measure it with your DVM - Can you see it go open circuit ??

Sorry, I forgot to add that, I have tested for breaks in the wiring and not able to find anything, cant get the multi-meter to beep over any of the injector loom / connectors. I appreciate all signs point to #3 but just if there is a way to 100% confirm this with my intermittent issue.

The old #3 fought me coming out so I had to remove the electrical connector and split the unit, I dont think id get useful comparable results back.

Those injectors fire for just milliseconds. Your window of opportunity to run any useful test on them is just those milliseconds . For that you will need a Digital Storage Oscilloscope with at least 4 channels and a Pair of Amp Clamps. Nope, your Multimeter wont do it !!

Ideally you want to swap injector 3 with another known good one in that engine but if they dont come out easy then that is not an option !

Why not return the New Injector and get a replacement - If that fails then it could be the Driver in the ECU

So, few weeks later and an update;

I have swapped out for 4 "recon" injectors, I know this in itself is a gamble so I accept I may need to just give up this crusade and bite the bullet for new. However, it would be really useful to try and narrow in (if I can) on which Injector is failing me.

Multiple repeated errors of P2147 where the van will just die.

Been able to trigger the issue by leaving the car to idle while logging some metrics;

LOGGING

My reading of this would indicate that its #3 as the issue as its the item where I have no data (line 663) for capacity-CAPA. The values for capacity in #3 seems to trend higher than the others also, unsure what the normal range of these is. My alternative reading of this is that the failure could be #2, as this went "bad" and then caused the short in the circuit which shut things down yielding no data for #3

Maybe someone with more understanding that me could read the last few rows and see if there is anything of value.

Further update!

Decided to bite the bullet and order new injectors after being unable to reliably recreate the fault or find anything wrong wiring wise.

4 new injectors and van is running perfect now, tried to put stress on it during the road test (previously what caused the short) and kept on going.

Im suspecting at least one of the "recon" units is failing under load, perhaps an insulation test would show its on the way out but at £500 for a tester I may never know.

Just if anyone else finds this thread, P2147 for me sadly was fixed by new injectors.
