Hey guys,

I own and Audi A4 40TDI quattro 190CV from 2019 (b9 facelift, but not b9.5), DETA engine.

ECU data now:

Software version: 9970
Hardware number: 04L907309L
Hardware version: H37

The Car was affected by "Feldmaßnahme 23CY", so the ECU got a diesel-gate fix update. My plan is to downgrade the ECU to the latest non-diesel-gate version.

Can someone please help me what was the latest non-diesel-gate software version?

Thanks in advance!

We need a full unedited VCDS Autoscan to help you in this case.
The above data looks like OBD11, this won't help in this case

I bought the car used. Many people complained on motor-talk.de, that Audi did the update in many instances without asking. There was also a sticker on the B pillar of my car proving, that the update was executed. Maybe check 23CY again

In any event (either voluntary or compulsory update) VCDS is not the tool you need to reverse or modify your ECU to flash another level of software. You should probably be talking to a tuner who can actually carry out the reversal if necessary and possible.

Removed mine already, but it was the same as attached.

Yeah thanks, I am aware of that, I did it previousy with my A3 few years back. I already contacted two tuners with this regard and waiting for feedback.

Probably not. This forum is intended for vcds users, not really for the competition.
Okay… What competition you mean?

If it helps, I work in corporate finance and have a passion for German cars. I’ve recently relocated to the UK for six months, so I don’t have my car or VCDS here. -> “No VCDS available at the moment”. Not really a supporter of VCDS “copies” (obd11) :)

I was hoping to get some help as the other user previously until I arrive back home.

The "Other User" is a valid VCDS customer, using the product made by Ross Tech. The purpose of the forum here (owned by and run by Ross Tech) is to support users of their product, and users who choose to buy a competitors product (OBD11 for example) are not offered that same level of support here. Generally the answer given to users of OBD11 is to seek advice from that particular tools manufacturers.

The purpose and principles of the forum were clear from the start.

As a Ross-Tech product owner (unverified unfortunately, so obviously impostor), I never felt the urge to go online with it. I mainly use it for small tasks like scanning/deleting error codes in case of a malfunction or resetting the service reminder, and I’ve never encountered any issues doing so.

As far as I know, VCDS can’t show which versions are available; it only displays the version I’m currently running, so not close connected to the product itself. My original question was more directed at fellow car enthusiasts, who share the same level of expertise in this niche area, with the hope that the solution could benefit other community members as well. I’m sure there are many here running with the EA288 engine.

Honestly, the only reason I originally signed up was to contribute and share experience (even if unverified) in response to the previously linked post by jfim88.

Cheers

Then by your own admission you've probably posted in the wrong place, since this forum is about fixing vehicles using VCDS.

If you want to contribute and share your experience at fixing vehicles then as previously said you should become a verified owner of VCDS.

In the lack of evidence, i.e. an Auto-Scan made using genuine VCDS not a clone, we have to treat you as a possible pirate (of which there are many every month).
