I have seen a few posts (Not Here) about getting a clone, but I am not interested in going cheap. Is there some place to get a real VAS6154 or VAS5054A? Are they worth having?
I seem to have a bad Central Convenience Module and may need to remove CP if I get a different one.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure how this is VCDS related.....
Also, why would anyone selling legit dongles advise you on obtaining clones? (as in, why are you asking here?)
Lastly, there's more to dealing with CP than just having a pass-thru interface..... (at least in my limited knowledge)

Buying a dongle means nothing. You need to pay for a license, certificate, and grp login to do what you want to so. Annual cost for access is probably around 2 grand every year. Plus 1700$ for a brand new legit interface. Are you a business? if you specialize and do alot of these vehicles yes it's good to have, if you just want it for your personal vehicle I don't think it's cost effective. I would advise against vas6154 clones only because they are china made garbage. Many of them have keyloggers built into the hardware, so even if you have legit credentials and ODIS those jackasses will hijack your account and VAG will lock the account causing big head ache to get it reinstated.

Thanks, I was thinking it would be more than I wanted to spend. Guess I will just take to a local shop.

Not really VCDS related, but I trust the folks that are here, and value the information.
This is for a personal car, so not going to happen.
I never said that the advice came from somebody that was selling anything. I said, that I have read (NOT ON THIS FORUM) several places to get a clone.
I am not interested in a clone, just trying to figure out if it was worth looking into going this route, rather then taking it to a Local shop.

Left side tail lights, fog light and backup light are coming up as open or short to ground. Have been testing cables, swapping bulbs. I will be load testing the circuit today. I did get out to UPullUPay and found an exact match for the module. Plugging it in the left side seems to work, but the tail lights are considerably dimmer than the right side. All other lights are the same on both sides. The new convenience module has CP active, but was able to get all codes cleared.
Also, It is an 07 S6 if that helps

Ahh ok. It is common for them to burn up the ground either in side the connector or near it. Please verify. Also common for them to fail internally. I can CP removal if needed. It's a service I provide.

I am thinking ground at this point, as the Highline lights are working fine, and I don't see any signs of burning. Will report back latter.

@EuroX So after a closer examination, It does look like the male post in the lamp connector got a bit hot. After cleaning both the post and plug Ground connections, The lights Seem to be working much better. I have put the orig module back in the car for now.
I will do my best to report back after a few days of driving it.
Thanks for the help.
