Hi all - I've been spending the last couple days researching but figured I would ask here before potentially committing to purchasing VCDS just to make sure I can achieve what I wish to achieve with my car.

I have a Canadian 2010 B6 Passat Komfort 2.0t 6M/T (base model wooo) which I am wanting to add some extra features to. I picked up the car dirt cheap years ago with a busted clutch slave cylinder and fixed it up and have been using it as my disposable daily driver since. That said, I've been bitten by the mod bug and I've since K04/intake/intercooler/exhaust swapped it to be more fun, and now I am starting to work on some creature comforts such as the steering wheel. I have already fitted an RCD330 with back-up camera and fog lamps, so figure the MFSW will be one of the last things to do.

So I've acquired a wheel (3C8419091BEE74 that looks like this) and matching clock spring module (5K0.953.569.T) from a 2010ish Passat CC and have swapped them in to see what would happen (you can tell I am new to VAG cars, I mostly dabble in older Japanese vehicles) and to my surprise the steering wheel controls illuminate and work just fine, however I have the amber steering wheel and traction control warning lamps on the dash.

I tried to perform the usual steering angle calibration by turning the wheel lock to lock a few times (have had to do that once a couple winters ago when I went away for a couple months and the battery was dead flat on my return, but turning lock to lock did the trick back then, just not now). I suspect there is a lot more to it such as coding, as I've noticed the turn stalk doesn't toggle on the high beams when pushed down like it usually should (the high beams do come on momentarily though, so at least they work still), and I'm not entirely sure if the horn works yet either (I still have the airbag sitting just out from the clips as I wasn't sure if I had to remove the wheel and module or not).

I came across this Wiki article and these posts but they are closed, and I'm not a verified member so can't respond to them anyway.

I'm just relatively unfamiliar with these cars so some pointers would be greatly appreciated! Is it as simple as coding the new module with VCDS and I'm good to go, or is there much more to it? I'm not fully understanding the LIN1.3, LIN2.0 stuff either. I figured with the wheel and module coming from a similar era PQ46 car it would be more helpful in terms of compatibility with each other, but of course I could be completely wrong there.

Amazing, thank you so much! Will this fix my headlight high beam activation too? it seems weird that the high beams will no longer toggle on with the new column module. The turn stalk switch seems to be a logic switch rather than a physical on/off switch.

If this clock spring module is from a slightly newer Passat or CC, which has the push and spring back high beam stalk, not the older push and stay forward, then it's simply a matter of changing one coding bit in the clock spring module.

oh amazing thank you for that also. Would I be able to swap back my original turn/cruise stalk onto the 5K0.953.569.T module instead? I don't recall my original turn stalk staying static in one position or the other for the high beams, I thought it too was a logic push back/pull forward to activate the high beams - but I will have to confirm again tomorrow in the morning.

Thanks for the response - basically in the process of googling and asking around some VW friends of mine it did come to light that I might be able to get help through that avenue, but I'm still not sure yet. If it comes to it, I would happily purchase (I have the V2 in the cart at GermanOEM) - however considering I was laid off a few months back I am trying to be a bit more careful with spending and I'm sure you would understand if I had an option that would be more cost effective (ie beer money to a friend) rather than buying outright for the one time I would use it, naturally one would side with the former.

I think the next step would be to gain access to VCDS (be sure it is a Legitimate product) and post a complete and unedited Auto-Scan ; right here with your post(s). That way the forum will be able to see the modules involved and advise on what coding to adjust.
The Auto-Scan must come from a legitimate RT VCDS product, I can not stress that enough. (if in doubt, ask or post pictures of the interface). ;)
