I have a problem with below airbag fault. Airbag module has been replaced due to internal checksum fault. Installed a second hand module and adapted with odis. All faults cleared. Started the car next and faults repapered. They appear again after a day or so.
There is no passenger airbag light on it. It has also been successfully adapted with odis and removed component protection so it should match the vehicle ok.

As this controller use dataset for configuration (you can see that information in dataset), I think it came from different car which different equipment. So dataset is for a car with a light for passenger light

Possibly but I can recall it had the same fault with the old module. Old module was corrupt and I was unable to clear the faults.
Also this been adapted with odis so I assume it would download dataset automatically?

6C0 959 655 J has at least 6 versions (index codes). The car in the Auto-Scan needs 6C0 959 655 J 10C.

On older generation airbag modules, the soft coding was mathematically tied to the index code so it was pretty easy to know what was what from the Auto-Scan. I'm not aware of any way to figure out the index code of the currently installed airbag module... but I suspect it is not "10C".

Soft coding looks decent, I find 30 examples of it so it seems plausible.

the only way is to find the vin of the donor. but i think as long as hw/sw matches, odis will do the right dataset/coding?

Ass u me = ass of you & me

Adapting is not the same as dataset writing, you need to find the correct dataset and download it to the module.

The scan with the new module shows the dataset number

No only if you use "Controller exchange" function or if there is dataset fault in controller in guided fault. Mostly these controller like Airbag need SVM for new dataset

Tried the function controller exchange but it refused as 'current module is coded to the car'
