Want to Disable AFS on Scirocco I think... well, the swivel module anyway... I have a code I can't get rid of... and a warning light.

Hi, I have a warning that the AFS system Cornering Lights isn't operating. The headlights do go up and down. When they come back up, the error starts. I have replaced a blown bulb, and both lights illuminate when in reverse, so they are working. My VCDS says that there is a mechanical fault in the Swivel Module. I want to just disable the swivel module (if it is the cornering lights) if possible? If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be appreciated! Thanks Scott

Is it worth replacing the control module to see if that is the problem?

Since the fault code description says "Mechanical Failure" I don't think changing the module will help.

When asking for assistance, you need to post a complete Auto-Scan.

Looking at the coding, Byte 4, Bit 1 for "Dynamic Corning Light active/enabled" is set. You can see about removing that from coding and see what happens.

0A3600000A000200

I suspect the root issue is in fact some sort of "Mechanical Failure" in that the Right dynamic cornering light control motor (V319) is being operated, but a sensor to monitor the movement isn't showing any change... maybe a piece of linkage between the motor and the mech has failed. Wiring diagram is vague on details about wiring inside the headlight, and the parts catalog implies you can only get limited parts OR just replace the whole headlight.

.... ok, looks like you be screwed... found this nugget in the repair manual that confirms what I suspected:
  • Left dynamic cornering light control motor -V318- and right dynamic cornering light control motor -V319- are only fitted on gas discharge headlights.
  • The dynamic cornering light control motor is located in the headlight housing and cannot be renewed separately in the event of a fault.

So it would seem "officially" the fix is the replace the headlight... so give that coding suggestion a try and hope for the best. I would suggest you don't get into the headlight, based on your geolocation, there will be some sort of murder spider inside the headlight just waiting for your fingers to come poking along. However, if you have some sort of anti murder spider flamethrower, then pull the headlight out and have a look inside and see if you find the issue.

Post a complete Auto-Scan before the locals here become restless and violent.
