Hello, i just got the vcds yesterday to help troubleshoot a no start, so please bear with me. The vehicle in question is a jeep yj, with a bhw from an 04 passat. The ecu has had the standalone deletes done, so no immobilizer, no MAF, no asv, as well as a malone stage 2 tune and manual swap tune. My autoscan shows no faults. The swap has been running fine for a few months, until one day it wouldnt start. I have gone over the wiring multiple times, and all seems good. I rechecked the timing with the timing tools, and it is good. I was able to start it with a gas soaked rag at the intake, with no problem. Fuel has been proven up to the p.d. pump, with good flow. I have not been able to see the injectors try to fire. At the plug to the head, i had a scope on as the engine was cranking, and wouldnt get a signal on any pin. in vcds I was watching the injector solenoid values, and they would not change when trended. So I am not sure where to go next, and was hoping for some guidance. Thank you for your time.

I don't know a whole lot about PD engines (never had one), but one thing I suggest you do is to make a custom Auto-Scan entry for VCDS that only has 01-Engine in it so VCDS doesn't waste five minutes of your time trying to find a dozen and a half control modules that don't exist in your car.

Perhaps @Jef might have some ideas here. He and his wife used to have two PDs, and I think he might still have one of them?

While not common, the tandem pump can fail and cause a crank/no fire issue. However, testing of the tandem pump is done with the engine running at 4000 RPMs and you should have >7.5 BAR at the test port... so yeah, kind of hard to test a possible failure if said failure prevents step 1 of testing... fire up engine.

Pump/injector testing really boils down to making sure wiring harness is good.

Now if this is a failed ECM, then the only test I could suggest is to get a known good ECM. Plug it up to see if it allows the engine to fire.

Still troubleshooting this thing. I have gained access to a working bhw, and have noticed pre startup the injection quantity in block 1 shows a measurment while mine was 0. In swapping over the ecm to my jeep, it fired right up, until the imobilizer took it out. So my question is, what gives the value to the injection quantity in block 1? I am trying to decide if its a tune issue, or an ecu issue.
Thanks for your time.

Do you see a cranking rpm when cranking the engine over?
