Hello,

- Nice, a 2016 Seat Leon Cupra 280 with a defective fault code.

My first thought is, this should be covered under warranty.

If it was my vehicle, I would clear the code and see if it comes back.


After researching the fault code below, I do not see any information about this fault code in this vehicle. If the code will not clear or returns, I would take it back to the dealer.

Dana: I've always found the battery monitor to be a bit of an enigma on MQB platform cars - I'd be delighted to know more about this simple, but mysterious little beastie! You are indeed correct in your assertion, from the WD, it seems to communicate directly with the CAN Gateway and as such it appears as a slave module to this controller in the auto scan. I assume that the battery monitor is nothing more than some form of current transducer (perhaps a pick-up coil with a few passive electronic components to condition the signal).

Problem is that the simplicity of this device belies any attempts to fix error codes - what can one do with a control module that has two wires, no coding and no adaptation channels but check a couple of connectors in the wiring loom and/or replace it (if the error code persists- of course)?

Thanks for answer, here is that scan, but car will be repaired in warranty, it was only question, because after car was after 9 month delivered, friend connect battery charger directly to car and trying to disable start/stop, so, he feared, that it was his mistake :-) After that, he ask dealer, and dealer told him, that he know, that on car was this error code, but he hope, that it will be cleared after few km of ride :-)

Well did he try to disable it: 2015.11.10 / 17:40:21 ?

It was before this date-time, but few times he cleared errors.

Thanks for the scan. I was concerned that the LIN wire (typically purple/white per Don's pic above) could be compromised -or- the alternator (on the same data line) was preventing the Battery Monitoring Control Module from communicating properly. Both are communicating in the scan so that doesn't appear to be the case.

The warranty replacement lead should resolve this.

So, after few weeks of wainting for cable (we have Skoda factory 60km, so, it must be weeks and not days :-) ) was changed cable (5Q0915181D) and now it is correct. Thanks :-)
