I have read that there is a way to adjust the backup light brightness with VCDS. I believe it can be adjusted through the Central Electric module under the Security Access section. However, Security Access requires a code that I have been unable to locate.

* Can someone provide the code required to access the Security Access section of the Central Electric module?

* Can someone provide information about adjusting the brightness of the backup lights?

What do you have in MVB 006 of the CECM at address 09 with the car in reverse? Fields 2 and 3 should show the percentage of activation of the left and right backup lights respectively, however I don't see anything in that module that allows for changing it.

Several other forums have suggested that adjustment of this value can be found in 09 CECM under Security Access. Security Access requires a code, the code provided on almost all sites is 31347. I tried this code but it doesn't work on my system. I recently found two other possible codes for the CECM, 20107 & 42013.

I'm not sure how many times I can enter the wrong code before creating an even bigger problem, so I have not tried either 20107 or 42013.

So what it's doing there is backing off the brightness to compensate for the increased voltage when the engine is running; something like 14V vs. 12V.

I guarantee you that if an adjustment exists, it is not "found under security access". And adjustment to an Adaptation channel or Coding could conceivably require a Security Access first, but I've never seen anything that does in that particular CECM, nor is there any documented Security Access code for it.

If there's any truth to what others have posted on the internet (dubious at best), the parameters are listed in the Security Access > select Adaptations > scroll to "Leuchte 28RFL LC11 dimming AB 28" and "Leuchte 29RFL RA64 dimming AB 29". The values range up to 127%. Apparently Leuchte is German for light.

Is there a way you can confirm the existence of these parameters?

I have tried all 3 suggested codes, none worked.

That's for an MQB / Mk.7 BCM and is not at all applicable to your Mk.5 CECM.
