Hey fellas.

Just got done refreshing the motor, swapping white interior to black, new suspension, everything is installed on the car and I’m ready to fire it up for the first time.

I had jackal motorsports flash manual software onto the ecu, I’ve wired in the reverse lights, cruise control and clutch switch, and jumper’d the start lock relay.

My issue is the car won’t start and I can’t seem to code any modules without a fault for missing ecu and tcu.

The abs module seems to accept the manual coding which is 0004901
(Workshop coding was auto set to 06335 which I just left alone)

I’ll post a scan in just a min.

Well to find out the ecu is not getting power.
Have no power to pin 3 on the ecu harness
Trying to figure why.

Erwin doesn’t have a wiring diagram for their car.
There goes 40$.
ALLDATA does tho
That is complete nonsense and not true - Cannot be true - Not logical !!

I use Alldata, Autodata, Erwin and every other provider of wiring diagrams known to man !!

Alldata will take the diagrams from ERWIN !!
Autodata do the same and then covert to their own format - As does Mitchell - Well they all do !!

There is no other place to get a diagram from ??

I would imagine Ross Tech have ODIS and info from VAG which forms the basis of VCDS - Good guess / Bad guess ??

I see your a glass half full kind of guy
If you are referring to me then YES I am !!

The difference is that I am still young, fit, keen, eager, love a challenge and all that however have done my fare share of malarky in my younger days !!

Well not too much - had 3 kids at the age of 26 and in my 6th decade now !!

Did have a good job though, shed load of bonus payments - If i wanted a better faster car - I just bought one with faults and fixed it !!

At 19 had a Mercedes 450 SEL at age 19 - "Stole it from a Local Company, Directors Car, because Reverse Gear was not engaging - Adjusted the Band and Happy Reversing !!

I'm on ebay and marketplace every day looking for cars with Gremlins - Cabrios with roofs not working ... Buy them, fix them , Trade them.

Facilities at work on Tap !!

After paying the Tax man still enough to live on and some!!

If you're buying - the glass needs to be full !!

I just wonder how do you get communication with 02-Transmission if you swap to manual??????
Also there is much more modules missing form Auto scan .

Next time come up with a better lie than erwin does not have the wiring diagrams.

Seriously.... It doesn't get any easier than this.

jumper’d the start lock relay.

You possibly need to do the job properly: If you still have a TCU and are making wiring hacks to bypass issues, you'll probably chase your tail a lot.

Make the correct changes as per a manual car and life should be much easier. Code the correct modules, wire them as they expect and fault codes will be much more meaningful as well.

As with most things in life, the devil is in the details.

Heads up,, you need a ECU from a manual car if using a manual, a ECU from a automatic trans car if you are using a automatic trans. I learned the hard way, worked on a guys 2010 S4 and had water intrusion in his ecu, ordered one on ebay, took it in to the local audi shop and even using ODIS you cant change the transmission type. He fought it for awhile and gave up. I towed the car back home, read for about a week on the internet and then some guy like you had a auto but went to a manual and had no luck until he got a ecu that came out of a manual car. Apparently the tranmission type is hard coded from the factory and is unable to be changed. Weird huh? THe symptoms I had was like it was a immobolizer issue, the car would start and run for a few seconds and die. Everything looked good on the scan with odis other than the transmission type kept erroring out when he tried to change it back to auto (the used ecu i bought on fleabay came out of a A4 cabriolet with a manual trans if i remember correctly.)

ECU hardware is usually the same, but software is different, and can be flashed with the right tools (not VCDS!).

I was referring to the dealer using ODIS that was unable to change the transmission type after I installed a used ECU I had purchased on ebay. I had to return that one, and bought one that came out of a automatic trans car and then it programmed fine through ODIS.

Yes and no, early 2000s vw and audi this was possible up until 2005 it was a simple coding change. After 2005 when mk5 and b7 vehicles came out that all changed. They started using specific ecms for manual vs auto. I think most can be cross flashed in f you have bin file, frf or sgo and a way to flash it without the risk of bricking the u it.
