Is there a way to test my yaw sensor on 04 Volkswagen beetle gls? It's not throwing a code but when driving, it yanks me to the left then right very hard. Like the tire are over accelerating the other tire. I've replaced the ABS Sensors and did the steering wheel alignment. I'm thinking it can only be the yaw sensor going bad but don't know how to test it with the VCDS. Already replaced front ABS sensors and pedal but still have code. Thanks!

You've got a lot of "intermittent" faults in your scan. I'd suggest clearing them, then go for a test drive until the issue happens again. Once you re-verify your steering issue, please grab a new full auto scan and post it up here. That should clear up a lot of the "noise" in your current scan and help us potentially narrow down the issue.

My gut says this is probably why you're having so much trouble:

Code:
Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 1C0-907-37x-ESP-F.lbl

4 Faults Found:
00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Right (G45)

00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent

If the ABS sensors are intermittently giving bad readings, your ABS system probably thinks you have a sudden loss of traction and is applying the brakes on individual wheels to try and compensate for an issue that isn't actually present, but appears to be due to the bad sensor data.

I'm thinking it can only be the yaw sensor going bad but don't know how to test it with the VCDS.
I believe readings from that sensor show up as Rotation Rate in MVB 004.3

However, I would focus on correcting the wheel speed sensor faults first,

here are the results from the test drive....[pretty much the same].....im thinking one thing is causing most of the others, obviously my speaker is removed , passenger seat belt bad.... ...I noticed the first hard pull was left and the warning light flashed, explanation point in triangle..

Check wiring (power, ground, comms) to your ABS module and inspect wiring to ABS sensors on both front wheels. If necessary, clean up the tone ring on each front axle.

davisev5225, did what you suggested. Checked the wiring, sent my ABS off to get tested and it's on its way back with a clean bill of health. Even wire brushed my hubs where the sensors read.. Still yanks to left and right. Could the break independently apply pressure by itself and that what's causing my bug to yank left the right. It will do it about a minute into the ride then nothing g for 2 minutes ish, then do it again. And it's always left then right...

I almost wonder if that's some kind of steering rack self-calibration gone wrong... ?
Sry for late response...daughter's having s baby...but, is there a way to test that, or how can I find out that, it might be what u suggested?

Assuming the shop/vendor you sent your ABS module to is competent, and assuming the wiring is indeed good per one of your previous replies, that leaves just two possibilities as far as I can see: either the ABS sensors have gone bad, or they are having troubles reading the tone rings at your wheel hubs (debris, mis-alignment, etc.) Your steering rack isn't showing any errors on its own, and the only clues are the sensor errors and the fact that the ECU & TCU sometimes stop talking to the ABS module. Could be wiring, could be something else.

At this point, all I can provide is general advice. You've got electrical issues somewhere in your vehicle, both relating to the front wheel sensors as well as relating to the communication bus between primary modules (CANBUS, maybe?). I'd say it's time to dig deeper into the wiring - look for stripped/frayed/damaged cables, dirty/oily connectors, etc. Something is causing your electrical and communication faults, and if your ABS module is "healthy", then it's somewhere downstream of that.

EDIT: Yes, I realize I appear to be contradicting myself here by saying the wiring is good, but then asking you to check the wiring. Again, this is just general advice - something is causing these "electrical" errors and intermittent loss of communication issues, so if the module is good, then it is probably in the wiring somewhere, and it's probably an issue that isn't omni-present, such as an intermittent short from a frayed wire loom.

Keep this simple - Graph all 4 Wheel Speed Sensors with VCDS while driving the car.

Wiring is unlikely to give you those DTC's

can only be the yaw sensor going bad
No chance - I would be horrified it that was the case. The Traction Control Module is more than capable of detecting YAW sensor failure !!

You are barking up the wrong tree there - Absolutely !!
sent my ABS off to get tested and it's on its way back with a clean bill of health.
Forget that - take with a pinch of salt - Means Nothing !! The ONLY place to test that module is in its natural environment - Your car - Not removed from your car !!

Can u give me dorection on how yo due this? I'm kinds new to all this VCDS program. I can pull the codes and all that, just curious on graphing the the sensors....hopefully I just bought a bad set... tks@

- Group 001 should have the individual wheel speeds.

However, my gut says you either have a failing ABS module.

- Group 001 should have the individual wheel speeds.

However, my gut says you either have a failing ABS module.
Even though I just got it checked out??

You think you have had it checked out !!
And You Paid to have it checked out !!

Is not the same as "checked out" properly - that must happen in your car !! In its natural habitat, subjected to the same underhood conditions !!

Heat and Vibration for one !

Right now we do not know where the failure is purely because of the Massive Holes in any testing done thus far !!

I am gently inclined that way too !!

Two WSS failures "normally" do not cause the Module to make the car snatch as you describe !! Once again more testing is needed to narrow this down.
