Hi guys . Quite new to the vcds and have been now successful in turning my inner rear lights to also work as brake lights , unfortunately I now have a park light on the outer right which stays on for about 5 minutes, not a massive problem but would like it off,
Any help much appreciated

Please post a complete AutoScan between CODE tags. Also useful will be a controller channel map for your 09 module's Adaptation channels plus the CodingLog.TXT file from your PC to see what you have changed so far.

Controller Channel Maps are covered here in the VCDS Manual.

Quick & dirty instructions:

[Applications]
[Controller Channel Map]
Controller Address = 09
Login or Security Code: Leave Blank
Function: Adaptation
Output: CSV file
[Go]

g2dar: Sounds real strange - the tweak that you describe has been done successfully many times.

Whilst you are putting together the auto-scan and the adaptation map the good folk at RT have requested (IMO, it's always a good idea to have a admap handy if you own a MQB platform vehicle because the BCM contains around 2,500 adaptation channels), here's a copy of the Leuchte-set for the outer rear tail light showing the factory default settings. I've coloured the adapatation channels to indicate the separate "banks" of functions for the 4 x "alpha pairs" (it has 2 only - brake & parker in non NAR models). As you can see, I've included both the LED and incandescent light version (not sure which fitting you have)
Cheers

g2dar: hm.... real strange indeed!

I don't mean to be rude, but it suggests that maybe an inadvertent change has been made to an unintended adaptation channel (maybe?). I'm aware that the good folk at RT have asked that you post-up some information, but it might also be prudent to have a look the codinglog.txt file that lives in the "debug" subdirectory of the "Ross-Tech" directory on the laptop that you used to make the changes.

Not sure if you know about this nifty little file, but it contains a record of all the changes that you have attempted to make with your cable. I understand that the file was intended for other purposes, but it's a "ripper" facility for tracing possible tweak errors.

Anyhow, given that you have only made a few changes, reading the file should be straight-forward (just open the file in a text reader like notebook). If you have difficulties, just post it here and I'm sure someone on the forum will decode it for you!

Don
PS: No, changing the "maximize" setting to "minimize" on adaptation channel (11) will totally dim the parking light function of the lamp.

Couldn't post upload the attachments here (postings permissions). Have uploaded them to SkyDrive if you could have a look at the CSV: http://1drv.ms/1SWYdp9 and the Log data http://1drv.ms/1MNtWW4 that would be great , many thanks in advance for any help received.

g2dar: Hi again. Haven't ignored you -I will have a peak at your files when I get my internet back! The sulfur crested cockatoos that swarm in their hundreds here have developed a taste for the insulation on our overhead communication cables (one of the many joys of living in the very deep south)!!
Cheers

g2dar: Back on-line again (well... for a while at least - until the cockatoos feel like another binge on telecom wire).

OK, I parsed your admap and placed the contents into my database file. The spreadsheet that I have created will enable you to compare the settings on your car with those of other cars in my database. You can download the spreadsheet HERE (I suggest that you download the file rather than view it online as dropbox can't handle my formatting).

Just to explain my spreadsheet layout, the cars are arranged in country order; Australia 1st (naturally), then America (NAR), then Europe, and finally Japan. Your car is in column V and your Leuchte channel settings are closely correlated to the mk7 from Ireland (column W) and Belgium (column X).

With respect to your data -something real odd about the setting on your car in ID 1962. I suggest that you change (9)-Leuchte24SL HRA65-Lichtfunktion D 24 from aktiv 100% to Parklicht rechts (or Parking light right).

Also of lesser importance, I'm not sure why you have deleted the settings Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) from (8)-Leuchte23SL HLC10-Lichtfunktion C 23 -see ID 1942 and (8)-Leuchte24SL HRA65-Lichtfunktion C 24 -see ID 1961

Cheers
Don

PS: just so I can complete my database, please tell me the type of mk7 you own - for the data in row 1
