Resolved 2011 VW Jetta 1.6 TDI DQ200 P177D

Hi all,

I have replaced the TCU due to intermittent communication errors. The car ran but shifted funny - it made errors when shifting to fourth gear, but a basic setting procedure fixed that issue. After a few short trips and some other brake and wheel suspension fixed the transmission started to make some really rough shifts to first gear when putting the gear selector into D. I get P177D abnormal torque detected and flashing D symbol. R runs fine.

I took out the mechatronic and found a broken o-ring on the accumulator and swapped it for a upgraded version with steel female threading. Didn't help on my issue.

I realized the software on the TCU, which I got from a donor mechatronic, was running another software compared to the original one (donor was 0AM 300 048 N and the old one is 0AM 300 054 D). I had the TCU flashed with correct software but without any luck.

I tried putting back the old TCU and the car shifted into D and R perfectly again - but while getting the car ready for a test drive I lost communication again. Do you have any suggestions for fixing or maybe adjusting the the donor TCU?

First it seems that you go on the right path - I think you are telling us that the donor is not dropping Comms ??

and then

I realized the software on the TCU, which I got from a donor mechatronic, was running another software compared to the original one (donor was 0AM 300 048 N and the old one is 0AM 300 054 D)

Why open this can of worms trying to wedge Square pegs into Round holes.

I'm not as brave as you I wouldn't entertain that method of fixing cars - I Think VCDS can help you with coding the Donor - If it can be coded but for dodge software i dont think it will ??

Wrong Part Number - Wrong Software - Wrong Ending

You have no clue if the Donor is good or faulty ??

Why not repair the old one properly - get it done properly or buy one with the correct part number ?

The donor was supposed to come from a 1.6 TDI Golf - and should be running fine. I guess I can not believe any of that after all after the findings of the wrong software version. Part number is all same though - and software got flashed without any kind of errors. So shouldn't it work as this?

Donor TCU has no problems with communication no.

Old TCU has snapped wires which needs to be resoldered/welded inside sealed housing. It could have other issues also, hence I am looking to get the donor TCU up and running.

I think they should be interchangeable now, however there are slight differences in the Component field:

GSG DSG AG7 431 vs GSG DSG AG7 441

and the Revision:

Revision : 00043014 vs 00044014.

I'm no Dumb Stupid Gearbox expert so I don't know for a fact whether this is significant or not.

The installed software is still pretty old. You can have it updated to about SW 62xx, which lowers the maximum working pressure from 60 to 52bar, preventing cracking of the accumulator housing.
