Audi A5 Cabriolet - boot storage flap wont stay up

Hi all, hope this helps someone.

Audi A5 Cab (8T) - when you want more boot space you can push the metal flap up which lifts the luggage cover higher. Common fault seems to be it wont stay up.

I tested mine and concluded the "motor" was fine.

So, took it apart to see what was going in and found out that the shaft that rotates the long horizontal metal flap has a weakness. As you can see from the pics below, the shaft connects to the metal plate via a single T30 - the hole on the plate is a 'D' shape. On mine, this has rounded off which means when you physically push the flap up to lock it into position, it cant rotate the shaft far enough to engage against the holding mechanism (circled below). Tightening the T30 made no difference, so just replaced the unit. Now works.

If the threaded boss was welded to the metal plate, would that solve the issue?
