Hi, I have a HEX-NET cable and after updating the software on my Sony Laptop to 24.5.0 I can’t get it to connect to the car.
Tried on a 2016 Audi S3 and it says Can not ready. Tried selecting the car from dropdown box ( Audi 8V ) and still saying the same.
I have a 2017 Audi R8 so tried the cable in that as well, it reads the Gateway Installation but everything is red saying Status can not be reached 0100 except for 19 CAN - Status ok.
I used this cable last week in the same R8 to verify gearbox mileage ( which was all checked out ) with the previous software and it worked then so I’m thinking it’s a software update issue rather than a cable issue or issue with the cars.
I also still have my old HEX-V2 cable ( which I need to get round to selling ) and tried that and that still wouldn’t read the Can Gateway in the S3.
I downloaded the software again to check but still the same.
Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated.

Title is wrong. Typo - 24.5.0 not 25 🤦🏻

I forgot to say Firmware is up to date as well.
Thanks in advance

Can you please post the autoscan of what modules you were able to talk to? Are you sure that the ignition was on, and was the engine running or a battery charger used on these vehicles?

On the 2016 Audi S3 it would allow access to anything, just kept saying Can not ready.
On the 2017 Audi R8 I took a terrible photo of my laptop screen which I’ll add below.
Ignition on , on both cars. Tried with engine running also on the S3. Never had a problem before updating the software and have been using genuine cables for probably 10 years plus.
Thanks Shaun

Sounds like a problem with the S3 and the R8 didn't have the ignition on? Being able to talk only to the CAN gateway is pretty normal for modern cars when the ignition isn't on.

Sorry, I had the ignition ON on the S3, and also tried the S3 with the engine running, but still Can not ready on either.
I had the ignition ON on the R8. And also the R8 read fine last week with ignition ON before I updated the software to 24.5.0

This is the only photo I took. I will take some more tomorrow and upload a scan from each car tomorrow.
Apologies for the poor quality photo.
This is of the Audi R8

Hello

This is unlikely as you can talk to the gateway, but it's worth checking the VCDS options screen to make sure the settings are correct, in particular, make sure the "Bypass CAN Init" is NOT ticked (it's right under the save button when you run the test option after updating and can easily be accidentally ticked as that dialogue closes)

If you're unsure, click the [Restore Defaults] button then close and reopen VCDS and try the car/s again

Best regards
Derek

Thanks Derek,
the CAN init wasnt ticked. But KWP-1281 was. I restored to default and saved but still getting Gateway does not respond.
I have just taken some screenshots of the process trying again this morning and added them below.
Thanks
Ben

Ok, so VCDS is now working in both the R8 and SQ5, but still No response from Gateway in the S3.
Looks like an issue with the S3 and not the software or cable.
Any ideas what to do next please?
My Carly adapter code read the S3 fine yesterday so I’m stumped.
Thanks for all your help so far with this

Glad it's working on those two, and thanks for the screenshots, they helped rule out config issues etc

My only thought on the S3 without going deeper in the car for a moment is that the connectors in the socket may have opened up slightly. Have a good look at them and check they all look the same, particularly 6 and 14 (CAN high and low)

Best regards
Derek
