B8 S4 bypass value issue/Terminal Voltage issue.

Post updated auto scan of faults that are currently present. Fault for J808 is usually the flap. Recommend to flash ecm back to stock and recheck.
Cant flash back to stock because car is running test pipes/catless. But this was asked to be done in the beginning of debugging and was fruitless anyway. Ive got 4 bypass valves and replaced them and they all give the same code. I have checked bypass with a multi meter. I am 99% certain it is not the bypass.


The issue only seems to arise when something "warms up" i say this because I had the car idling to warm up for 10 minutes no issue. Ran her hard at wot a few miles no issue. Pulled over to plug in VCDS and log, before i could initiate the logger the CEL popped up while sitting in a driveway. no throttle input nothing.

As stated before replace J808 if basic settings cannot be performed.

And p10a4 is only one of the codes. The other is p10a6 and the fact that both show leads me to believe is it an issue at the ECU.



I have a spare ECU with a different VIN which doesnt let me start the car (immobilizer) but it does connect to VCDS. But for some reason my VCDS cable doesnt let me connect to the ECU even when I tell it I want to use 1 of my VINs. Why would that be?

Checked the connector and thought it was bad so replaced the connecter for brand new pigtail from audi. Bypass valve and wiring at its end are not the issue. I am now stuck between it being the ECU connector pins or the ECU itself. (Although if you read prior i had a ebay ecu jockey confirm the Ecu was good even thought he coudnt clone it)

but i am in disbelief because the car works fine for the first 10 minutes of driving. Then when warm it just triggers the codes that just wont clear until its cool again. Additionally, bypass adaptation just acts weird, the car will say successful adaptation sometimes, without even moving the valve.

And p10a4 is only one of the codes. The other is p10a6 and the fact that both show leads me to believe is it an issue at the ECU.



I have a spare ECU with a different VIN which doesnt let me start the car (immobilizer) but it does connect to VCDS. But for some reason my VCDS cable doesnt let me connect to the ECU even when I tell it I want to use 1 of my VINs. Why would that be?
When swapping J808 were basic settings run and performed correctly with each valve? Were faults cleared each time prior to adaption?

Sadly Yes, every single valve went through numerous fault clears and adaptations. Ive even went as far as letting the fault trigger with the valve installed on the car and then let unplugged the mounted valve and done adaptation on a valve not mounted to the car ( just to see if there was any effect). same issue.

So I watched a video of a guy using VCDS on a skoda or bug. He had an issue with an adaptation and wasn't sure where to start, so what he did, he went through all the channels for the module and looked for sensor values that might be out of wack. He found a coolant temp sensor shorting out (showed -40C). But i am unable to scroll through channels like that so i figured i would take a block map before and after my bypass valve code triggered to see what might be awry. So I took 2 blockmaps of the ECU, one before CEL trigger and one after hoping we could agree what looks out of wack and maybe narrow down what quadrant of the engine bay I throw my credit card at.

Do you think my 02 sensor values could be shorting out the bypass valve sensor line? Comparing ENG102380 and ENG102703 and noticing how IDE00566 rises after being warm. I am thinking maybe I have a sensor short when cold and causing issue?

For sake of discussion. My car throws a P10A4 and P10A6 randomly after warming up. When the car is cold, and initially warming up, it adapts the valve fine, and runs ok. I have changed and adapted the valve many times. After warming it randomly triggers the code, and sets, and even if I clear the codes they immediately come back until I let the car cool. If I try to adapt the valve after the code is set, it will sometimes adapt successfully, but still trigger the code. Many new bypass valves tried, adapted and failed. Thanks

Because from the Blockmap the [Lambda probe heater: resistance: bank 2: probe 2 ] value seems out of alignment with its twin on the other bank.

So last night I got the CEL to trip and usually when it does, I can clear the faults and they immediately come back. BUT THIS TIME I UNPLUGGED THE SECONDARY 02 sensor and it allowed me to clear the codes!!!!! So a glint of light. Because I believe this isolates my issue to either a bad sensor in the ECM network or bad ECM internal circuitry. I was worried that it might be the pins on the ECU connector but the ability to immediately clear the codes leads me to believe otherwise.

I fail to see what an o2 has to do with a bypass valve fault. Or have those been resolved?

Because the standard list of bypass valve fixes has not worked for me. So I started to look deeper. and like I said 3 posts above... saw someone on youtube who diagnosed a throttle body issue by looking at sensors on the ecu network and seeing which sensor had a farfetched value ( IAT -40C) in his case. Representing a short or issue with the sensor. I was thinking maybe I have an issue with the secondary oxygen sensor creating a short and overworking the ECM. And because I am catless I am thinking it maybe is tuned to not throw a code?

Many tuners have an annoying habit of disabling some diagnostic reporting - which is why when someone posts they have a tune one suggestion is always to return to stock and re-enable the full diagnostics.

Doubtful unless ecm is fucked internally. Most likely modified flash no to throw a code.
Can you please elaborate on why its doubtful? I have an electrical schematic and the O2 sensor isnt part of the loop that powers the bypass motor and its sensor. But i thought it was interesting that on the ECM harness the B2S2 have a few pins right next to the bypass pin.

Based on some of the vehicles I used to modify back in the day disabling or rear o2's was always a work around for not setting catalyst faults. So "to meet emissions " per say. Per say because readiness would be set and no cat fault would be present whether the vehicle had no cats at all, or high flow garbage they call a catalyst installed.

Uwe, thats what Ive seen. But i found a "gentleman" willing to clone a used wrecked car ecu which is identical to mine, but he says he will have to remove the immobilizer feature and that worries me. Dont want to just throw money at a ECU, albeit im getting there, and also dont want my baby getting stolen
if he can truly clone it then there is no need to remove the Immo

So I am f*kd. I have followed the diagnosis manual to all extents and it has not sufficiently addressed the issue. Do i need ot pay VCDS for some support here? I feel like this issue is beyond the realm of a standard mechanic and i worry ill be throwing away money doing that first.
