Needle sweep question.

Hi, I have a 2007 EOS TDi and with my shiny new Ross Tech toy in hand I would like to enable needle sweep. When I select module 17 then adaptation, the list of things isn't very long and I can't see anything like needle sweep or indicator celebration etc. Now I've read that some clusters don't support this feature which I fully understand, but what has confused me is I can test every dial on the cluster so the ability to move the needles is definitely there.....and if that's there how can needle sweep not be there too as it's essentally the same thing. If it helps, the software reports a VAG number of 1Q0 920 964 A which I assume if the dealer part number.
Much head scratching going on here, and I'm VERY new to the VCDS software so a it of a learning curve in play too, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your instrument cluster may not support that. Most that old do not.

I just can't get my head around the fact that the engine ECU can activate every dial in the cluster using VCDS output tests, but not enable needle sweep.

That's not the Engine ECU doing that; it's the cluster doing it directly.

It's simply not a "feature" that those clusters had in the configuration options (Coding & Adaptation) in the API that VCDS uses.

Needle sweep needs the firmware in the cluster to have this feature included, if VAG didn't include that in the firmware then it cannot be enabled.

A way to do this has been found on the red matrix clusters Audi TT and A3 8P (e.g. 8J0 920 930 F or 8P0 920 931 xx), but it is necessary read the eeprom, change a few bytes and rewrite it. Unfortunately for the VW clusters with red matrix, however, this is not yet possible
