2015 Golf TDI S - Want to add ACC but need High Gateway..?

I've had my 2015 Golf TDI S for about 4 years now and decided I want to bite the bullet and add ACC and Lane Assist/Blind Spot monitoring at a minimum. It looks like I will need to upgrade my CAN Gateway from the mid I have to a High. Does anyone have tips or a link to a post about the upgrade, like the part number I'm looking for and difficulty in making it work? Attaching my auto-scan.

I presume you do, but just asking, you are aware that adding ACC is not just coding?

Gateway 530 AM works good. And it is still 5Q0 gateway.

Gateway needs component protection removed and feature enable codes restored after swap. And nowadays removing CP from gateway, ACC and BCM needs written authorization from VW before you can remove CP.
So you need someone with authentic GEKO account.

Thanks for the response, downtime! Yes. I know I'll need to get a few additional parts to get ACC. I believe I will need a different bumper bar, radar and possibly a different ABS module.

Can you recommend anyone with a GEKO account?

Yep, different bumper bar and lower bumper insert. Your ABS is fine (same hardware and software I had in my TDI S, with ACC retrofit). You will need bi-directional rear wheel speed sensors. Inexpensive and easy to replace though.

That is correct. I am on my 3rd gateway, all used. Whatever is on it will get cleared by whoever you have do the online work anyway.

Your car is not going to have any wires going to the pins for Extended Can Bus. This will let you connect to that bus without disturbing your factory harness.

I didn't pick that seller for any particular reason other than they offer free shipping. It will be slow but you can get it coming now and have it when the time comes.

No failures, just later retrofits. I retrofitted the 5Q0907530AM that you will be retrofitting now initially. Ran it for several years, zero issues. I then retrofitted the Mk8 steering wheel so had to switch to the later 3Q0 gateway, which is in my car now with zero issues.

Switching to the 3Q0 gateways is no trivial matter these days. @downtime has elaborated on this elsewhere so you can search his recent posts if curious.

Thanks! Any leads as to who can help remove CP online? I upgraded my MIB1 to MIB2 and had Jack Kirry help me get that working using TeamViewer. But he's in Poland so not the easiest to get ahold of.

I don't know of anyone in the states. I've had lots of work done by the guys at VAG Retrofit & Coding. They are somewhere in Europe. Easy to get a hold of but sessions are typically scheduled early in the morning here on the west coast... like between midnight and 3 am.

11 PM West Coast is 8 AM Central European Time, so on occasion I've scheduled a session mid morning, which would be towards the end of their work day. Midnight ends up being easier for me to manage.

The AM gateway is the replacement one for your current gateway I believe. VW will often show the highline module as the replacement for any low or mid. That way they only need to stock one replacement part and then the coding, adaptations and FEC restoration will make it work in whatever car it gets put into.

In your case, with the "proper" replacement part the dealer can follow the guided function as if they were doing a warranty replacement like they would have to do if you had some maintenance issue. That will not get you ACC unless you go with the older (round) style front radar. That style is harder to find, more expensive and less capable.

The newer style flat radar you're still going to need some remote work. And if you're having remote work done anyway may as well let them take care of the component protection while they're in there.

For gateway and ACC CP removal, your dealer needs to apply for permission from VW and only after permission is given, you can do the CP removal. This is for used parts, for new parts no permission request is needed and CP can be removed directly. So this step can only be done by authorized workshops. China Geko accounts don't work here.

You will need to have component protection removed, firmware checked for compatibility, FeC & SWaP codes programmed, and DataSet flashed. I have a guide on this, or you can contact me.

I have done an ACC retrofit myself and I replaced my 530AM gateway for a 530AN gateway.

That's not correct. I had 2017 MQB Tiguan with AM gateway and that had ACC, 3Q0 camera from factory. And I can 100% confirm that CAN has can extended.

IIRC it doesn't, maybe they updated it. I just replaced the one in my 2016 Passat, but thats NMS so it may be different, although the part number is the same.

No they have not. There's 2 manufacturers. Continental and Lear. Continental hardware is index M and that has CAN extended. Lear is hardware index F which has been used from 2013 onwards and it also has CAN extended.

And there is no AN gateway for MQB cars. For gateway part nbr 7N0 there is AN index as well, so are you sure you're not mixing up now different platforms? AFAIK 2016 NA Passat is not MQB car.
