Hi there, I have a 09 Jetta TDI which has landed in my workshop after breaking down . We took on the job for another workshop who had just serviced the car before it ground to a holt with most if not all dash lights flashing including the oil press light. The owner pulled over and vehicle would not start. He ordered a tow truck but whilst waiting , played with the central locking and eventually it started and drove back to the workshop. They plugged their scanner in and could not communicate with any module, at that time the eng would be cut by immobiliser. then , , they played with cent locking , eng would start and communications were restored although the never recorded any codes given???
It has now ceased to communicate at all and starts easy , runs for a couple of secs then cuts out. I feel it runs longer than immobiliser will allow and will gain revs with acceleration if only for a few seconds. I removed ecu to check connections, plugged in another just to test communications still nothing.
Does the j519 control all communications and can it cause these faults. Any suggestions or has some one had this problem before Thanks Max

No, J519 does not control communications, or even the central locking on that (Mk.5) car; it primary deals with lighting and other electrical loads. Communications run through J533 (the CAN gateway), while central locking is handled by the separate central convenience module in that car. Central locking functionality incorporated into J519 in later (Mk.6) cars.

My guess: You have some sort of power problems somewhere.
