I've heard that GM and other manufacturers have terms and conditions in their "Smart Driving" or similar programs that allows them to sell information about driving habits to 3rd parties who can in turn, sell it to insurance companies.

Can and does the Audi Connect feature provide similar capability, and is anyone aware if Audi is selling data of your driving habits to 3rd parties? If so, can Audi Connect be disabled with VCDS to prevent your personal driving habits from being recorded and shared? Is removing the app from your mobile device sufficient to eliminating the transmission of vehicle data to 3rd parties?

I attempted to review the 21 pages of the Audi connect Terms of Service (on my phone's screen) and nearly went blind with all the legal mumbo jumbo. Couldn't comprehend it and wonder if there are valid concerns about whether users data is being marketed to insurers.

5 years ago, I had a conversation with the head of the Drew Tech company. He told me about the plans the OEs had for all the data they would collect. They saw the sale of that data as generating more income for their businesses than building autos. The auto is the razor and the data is the razor blade. They want to sell razor blades...

The sales contracts have fine print where you are agreeing to their collection of the data and that once collected, you have no control over what they do with it.

You cannot refuse that paragraph at this moment if you want to buy their car.

Yes, the collection and sale of the data is real and is by design. Big business is planned.

I had Car-Net set up without a paid plan on our 2020 Tiguan, so we can do things like remote start. Part of that service was an optional driver score thing that you could activate. I was curious how it would score me, so I looked at turning it on at one point, several months ago. There was no way to turn it on so that I could see the score but the data wasn't ALSO being sold. So I never turned it on.

Today I went back to take a screenshot of that to share. Now I can't even login without accepting new Terms of Service on either the website or the app. Guess what the new terms are... turns out the tinfoil hatters are right sometimes. This is some bullshit. I declined it and unenrolled.
