Hi All

I have an RS4 that had GPF delete pipes fitted and then removed as we couldnt stop the ash/soot content increasing so the standard cats/gpf were refitted, the Ash content has been reset back to 0 but there is no option to reset the soot content of the GPF when looking in ODIS, Topdon, Autel or Launch diagnotics and the only reference I can find for the same issue as mine is via a post that threepot put up.

I have an original erprom from before the tuning company tried the GPF delete but does anyone know if the current eprom can be changes or old loaded to reset the values as ODIS says its a new ecu lol

TIA

Ash is the content that remains and can only be removed with off-car cleaning. Soot, is burned off through regen, and takes its content values from a differential pressure sensor for the GPF. Soot values i believe can't be reset, as it would eventually lead to an error about the pre-gpf pressure being too high, that is my theory anyway.

However, this is a forum for VCDS software, and only gives support to this only. If you are using another solution such as ODIS, Topdon, Autel, etc, you will need to seek help from one of their forums.

If you've purchased an adapter to use VCDS, please post a full un-edited Autoscan so we can see what your car is equipped with, and Ross-Tech can advise if the procedure you want, is possible for your car.

Sorry I actually missed out my "official" VCDS from the list which would only reset the gpf with security clearance. Unfortunately for the RS4 which is petrol there are minimal security codes listed anywhere and as much as it has cats and gpf's they don't have the same soot/ash collection as a diesel car. Either way the cats/gpf arw clean as they weren't on the vehicle.

My question is more about the eprom and not tool related in that sense as there is no option to clear soot levels which include VCDS so I'm not sure posting the readout would help 🤔

I'll pull an autoscan off if you think it will help but vcds won't touch the eprom I wouldn't have thought. Hopefully someone will tell me otherwise .

Forgetting the Eprom for a moment, the autoscan is useful to see what your car is equipped with. It details ECU software/hardware, and will tell RossTech the information needed to advise if the procedure is possible with VCDS.

If RT doesn't have the information required (i.e. a new car that they don't have a dataset for), this can be extracted with VCDS for further development :)

Makes sense. Sorry although I've had VCDS for ages I've only just joined the forum.

Will get it uploaded this evening 👍
